My status checker updated to Jan 1, 2010. Anyone else? Does it mean anything?

they probably already finished building their class and are just ignoring us because they don't care anymore.GeePee wrote:I applied nearly 2 weeks earlier and still nothing. So what now?
Good luck to those who are waiting for the next wave.
To the others: So what now? What's the timeline you guys are working on? When will you decide if you're going to Michigan or not? What are you waiting for?

If I get into Michigan my cycle will effectively be over. Barring another T14 throwing an undeserved sum of merit aid at me or Chicago letting me in off the WL, if accepted at Michigan, I'd be back in Ann Arbor come August.

I submitted at the end of October. Still nothing (other than "we received your application, wait for completion, etc."). Such is the plight of a reach candidate.GeePee wrote:I applied nearly 2 weeks earlier and still nothing. Someone posted earlier that I've probably been complete for a while, but the holdup is in assigning a UM ID to log in to.

Does anyone know what the deal about the Darrow is? How does the process work? How many people get invites (and when)? Also, what percentage of people who are invited to write the essay are actually awarded a scholarship (full or half)?
Also, when does additional merit aid come out?

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Any chance at $$ from Michigan if I am applying this late in the cycle?
Stats are 3.5x 178/170
Is it likely that they will simply YP me? I will be writing a "why mich" essay.

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
There is a long Darrow Invite thread from last year that covers most of these details. Darrow invites go out via email. (The first round has already gone out for this years cycle.) There will likely be a couple more rounds based on last years cycle. You have two weeks to write and 500 word essay; they review your essay and application in a seperate Darrow committee and get back to you about a decision in 2 weeks. The vast majority of people on TLS who got invites last year recieved full Darrows.annabell wrote:Does anyone know what the deal about the Darrow is? How does the process work? Re: michigan 2010 applicants
There's a chance, of course. I'm not aware of any scholarship offers being made yet in this cycle, but I'd anticipate them starting to go out soon now that the new year is here. Michigan seems to be running somewhat behind due to a large influx of applications early in the cycle, so it might still take them some time to get you a decision (and subsequent scholarship offer).CanadianEH wrote:Any chance at $$ from Michigan if I am applying this late in the cycle?

You're a splitter, so it's difficult to determine how your application at most any school will play out, but your high LSAT score is bound to work in your favor. I'd definitely recommend writing the optional essays.

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
So I thought it was awesome that as a mich alum I could access the status check b/c i already have a UM ID #, and I wouldnt have to wait weeks upon end like everyone else. I was wrong. Its not awesome. Now I log in daily only to see 'Incomplete' and I have to compulse that I'm missing something. In reality, its likely that no one has checked my file for all the parts yet, and once they do it will be marked complete and i'll get that link to the status check page.
But I usually don't let things like 'reality' factor into my worrying and compulsing. Instead I'll keep checking it daily and wonder which parts of my application are missing, and become more and more convinced I'll never go under review.
sigh. /rant

Do I have any chance at Michigan? 172 2.7LSAC URM. Michigan UG and my GPA @ Mich was 3.82. LSP has me at consider but I've been complete for 8 weeks and think I should just be prepping for the worst

Eh, I submitted the first week of October and only heard back last week. Seems like Mich is taking their time with a lot of people this year.hopefullaw27 wrote:submitted in mid-october...should i be worried that i've seen no activity? been complete for a while now...

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
There have been other alumni applicants whose application was incomplete because the contact information (like address) listed on their application was different than the contact information listed in the U of M directory; it apparently is a bug in the system, but the apps won't move forward until it's corrected in the directory. You might want to check on that...julesm2200 wrote:So I thought it was awesome that as a mich alum I could access the status check b/c i already have a UM ID #, and I wouldnt have to wait weeks upon end like everyone else. Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Given how long its taking everyone and the whole every ED person getting deffered thing, I'm going to assume that Michigan is taking their time to see how this cycle plays out. When their apps are up by so much (but also predicting # of applicants to fall), I don't blame them for trying to get a clearer picture of the applicant pool before making decisions.hopefulundergrad wrote:Do I have any chance at Michigan? 172 2.7LSAC URM. Did you transfer out of Michigan? How do you go from 3.82 to 2.7 with conversion?hopefulundergrad wrote:Do I have any chance at Michigan? 172 2.7LSAC URM. Michigan UG and my GPA @ Mich was 3.82.
