I wonder if the review process starts upon completion or upon going into review... It better be upon going into review, because I am still complete 10/14...

Re: USC 2010!
Well, plenty of people were only under review for a matter of days, so I don't think it's referring to the length of time you're UR. Also, the email seems to imply it's the complete date:nyskidude wrote:beef wellington wrote:In the email confirming my application was complete in November, USC wrote:The review process takes approximately 8-12 weeks.

So yeah. On behalf of all of us early birds:Your application is now complete.
The Admissions Committee will begin to review your application and once a decision is made, we will notify you immediately. The review process takes approximately 8-12 weeks. We only release decisions via postal mail; not over the phone or by email. If you have any questions during the process please do not hesitate to contact our office at 213-740-2523 or via email at admissions@law.usc.edu.

Re: USC 2010!
most of the decisions were dated a few days after going DF. so it might not have been mailed yet. someone called and they said to give it 2 weeks although some have gotten it much earlier.ylee0331 wrote:DF 3/5

Well, I live about 15 minutes from the school and am 3/5 DF, and I'm off from work this week so can mailbox watch, so likely I'll be our coalmine canary. But I'm counting on knowing this week so I can really make a final LS decision...

Re: USC 2010!
We are almost done with the second week of the "week or two." Wednesday makes two weeks from the 24th, and their response made it seem like they would have gotten some decisions out already.ornbarn wrote:This is from an email just received from someone in Financial Aid about scholarships. Hopefully this will be helpful to everyone: "We are only now beginning to make scholarship decisions and they will go out as decisions are made via USPS mail. I expect the bulk of decisions should be mailed within the next week or two."
Betting that these letters are not yet prepared.

Dear SC, since the 3/5DF batch was huuuuge, do you plan on putting some more of us in review?

Goodluck everyone, seriously.
Question. If I put down a deposit, will this ruin my chances for negotiating $?

If I'm not in review by the end of the week, should I e-mail somebody or call somebody about this? I mean, being complete for almost 5 months without going into review is just ridiculous...

Re: USC 2010!
Yeah I've been complete for four months and haven't heard anything. Maybe they are still trying to secure the funding for the massive scholarships/stipends they are going to give us.nyskidude wrote:If I'm not in review by the end of the week, should I e-mail somebody or call somebody about this? Re: USC 2010!
the last 1.5 pages of applicants on LSN got their decisions between march and may, last yr. Only 5 with scholarships in this time period, and one of them was waitlisted initially.

Re: USC 2010!
They've really got to hurry things up for admits. Do they not care that they have 0 people according to LSN "attending", while other schools are already shaping up their classes? Is this some crazy Yield Protect scheme?

Re: USC 2010!
I wonder how schools will actually fare this cycle in terms of who ends up matriculating/#s after that - everyone is adjusting things due to overwhelming # of aps, but I think the data said most of those are just people applying to more schools than usual rather than truly a ton of addit applicants.1800calturk wrote:They've really got to hurry things up for admits. Re: USC 2010!
i think its a little bit of both. i read somewhere that each applicant is indeed sending out a lot more applications then before. but im sure there has also been an increase in the overall number of applicants.ruleser wrote:I wonder how schools will actually fare this cycle in terms of who ends up matriculating/#s after that - everyone is adjusting things due to overwhelming # of aps, but I think the data said most of those are just people applying to more schools than usual rather than truly a ton of addit applicants.1800calturk wrote:They've really got to hurry things up for admits. Re: USC 2010!
Would you say that would reflect a difference in quality of applicants? Wouldn't the number of qualified applicants remain roughly the same, if it's really just about the same number of people just reaching/saftey-ing a little wider?finalaspects wrote:i think its a little bit of both. i read somewhere that each applicant is indeed sending out a lot more applications then before. but im sure there has also been an increase in the overall number of applicants.ruleser wrote:I wonder how schools will actually fare this cycle in terms of who ends up matriculating/#s after that - everyone is adjusting things due to overwhelming # of aps, but I think the data said most of those are just people applying to more schools than usual rather than truly a ton of addit applicants.1800calturk wrote:They've really got to hurry things up for admits. Re: USC 2010!
First i believe the economy has a lot to do with the increased amount of applicants. more people go to school during difficult times. some of them very bright who lost their jobs or couldn't find one.1800calturk wrote: Would you say that would reflect a difference in quality of applicants? Second i believe the overall increase also points to the increase of qualified applicants as well. i mean there will be more less qualified candidates compared to the higher quality but still. record amount of people took the LSAT which also leads to an increase of let's say 95 percentile lsat scorers.
I believe i read somewhere that what percent = what score is already decided before the test is taken. for instance 170 = -9 or something even before the test was given out, so technically even if 170 = 98%, 3% might have received a 170 or higher.
