does anyone know if columbia admissions is open today,
do they only send out responses on certain days of the week?
They are open today. I submitted my Fall grades today by email and called to make sure they got it. The office only closes on Christmas day and is open every other day. They said they release decisions whenever they are ready.
Still ED complete! Hopefully a decision before Christmas.
Do you all think I am still bound by the ED contract if I do not receive a decision in December as the Early Decision Plan specifies?

Really? I don't think I could do this whole process over again. Are those the only three schools you'd be interested in?

I am sort of regretting not doing ED, but if I end up attending I will be POOR. I'd at least like some time to make the decision of whether to be ridiculously poor or only absurdly poor. And if I don't get in, then so be it. I kind of get a bad taste in my mouth thinking about "sneaking" in ED... if they wouldn't want me RD I'm not sure I'd be a good fit.

if you are seriously averse to debt and can squeeze some $$ out of NYU you probably made a good choice not EDing columbia

I visited both but preferred Columbia, more of a neighborhood feel and not quite as "busy" as NYU. I still liked both though, I just felt like NYU had more of a public sector feel.

you could live in a more neighborhood-y place i'm sure, and probably pay less. i totally concur with that assessment though-- NYU and Columbia were pretty neck in neck on my list, but once I visited both NYU seemed so cramped by comparison, both inside and outside.
part of me would like to go to NYU, if only because i could just renew the lease on my current apartment in midtown and not have to worry about moving all this furniture to harlem in august

I never got a status complete email (were we supposed to get one?)... but a fellow TLS member told me about setting up a "My Columbia" Account. I promptly did so (about a month ago) and today I realized one of the boxes wasn't checked off, see below:
Biographical Information Sheet: Received
Personal Profile Sheet: Received
Personal Statement/Essay: Received
Résumé: Received
LSDAS Report: ??? (didn't actually have ??? but this box was unchecked)
Application Fee: Received
Recommendation Letters: Complete
However, on the bottom, it says Application Status: Complete.
What do your guys' status pages look like? Do you have the LSDAS Report checked off? I don't want to call them to annoy if it is blatantly obvious that no one has the LSDAS report checked off.
Thanks guys =D
My LSDAS Report box is checked with "received" written next to it, but you're probably all right if it says Application Complete at the bottom. Still, it might be worth a call.
EDIT: I also received a completion notification email.

would any ed applicants who were either admitted or denied outright check to see if their lsdas report box is checked? i am beginning to suspect that having it unchecked is a sign that one has been deferred. help please? thanks.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I think its just a glitch in the system. Mine is unchecked as well, and I'm an RD applicant. I believe others reported the same issue earlier in this thread too, so it very likely doesnt mean anything.

Congrats to all of the ED acceptances!
I have a RD question...I've heard that Columbia asks for fall grades for those students still in undergrad when applying. Do they ask everyone's grades or only those below a certain number (3.9, 3.8, etc.)? Also, do you send in your transcript to LSDAS or directly to Columbia? Finally, when do these requests occur (i.e. before Christmas, between Christmas and New Years, January, etc.)?
Any information would be really, really helpful!

Mine was unchecked right before I got in on Friday, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, I was deferred and the box is checked.
If it was some sort of system, I'm not sure what would explain that (unless two weeks later they decided they made a horrible mistake and I'm actually in :p )
