I interviewed that week as well, and the wait is killing me hahaha. At this point in the cycle I'm just expecting a WL/ding so I wish I'd find out sooner rather than later.papersnowaghost wrote:i don't have any insight into this but i'm right there with ya... interviewed last week of january and haven't heard anything since

Re: Columbia C/O 2019 Applicants - 2015 - 2016
They did quite a lot of what appeared to be YP last cycle. What differentiates a YP candidate from a big scholly candidate is completely unknown to me (though I certainly would like to know since I was also waitlisted at quite a few schools I had very good numbers for).lunixer wrote:Is there any chance that Columbia is going big on the YP game? I personally am >>75 and >50 and think I'm a good admit. I interviewed all the way at the beginning of December and have heard nothing so far. :/
I also have gotten waitlisted at some other schools that I thought I'd be pretty safe at (including Penn). And I'm certain it's not for my essays or resume.

Also in via email. Interviewed 32 days ago.
No big scholarship money, though, which is disappointing. I'm well above both 75ths.
Yes, they underlined "enthusiasm" in mine too. Still an understatement of how excited I actually am, though.

Re: Columbia C/O 2019 Applicants - 2015 - 2016
If we got accepted via email today, but did not have any scholarship information attached, is it unlikely we will get a big named scholarship. I looked around ITT for an answer to my question, but it seems like the last admits were so long ago the rules (guesses at the rules) may have changed. (I gathered from old posts the thinking was big named scholarships are given to those accepted via snail mail)

In the past, all big named scholarships have gone out in initial acceptances. Financial aid packages (released in early april) have been said to include some amount of mixed merit-need based $$, but will not include new hammys or butlersIvy2015 wrote:If we got accepted via email today, but did not have any scholarship information attached, is it unlikely we will get a big named scholarship. Is it possible to get a financial aid award equal to/surpassing the amount of a Butler (Which i think is roughly $30k/year) if you didn't get a named scholarship in your initial acceptance email? Asking because if im guaranteed to get less than that then Columbia is basically out of the running for me.

Re: Columbia C/O 2019 Applicants - 2015 - 2016
I know $90k over 3 years has been reported but I don't think anything between the Butler and Hamilton has been (besides a Butler supplemented with financial aid). I'm hardly an authority though, LSN or one of the more knowledgeable Columbia students (the Columbia Ask thread seems like a good enough place to ask) should be able to tell you more.theconsigliere wrote:Is it possible to get a financial aid award equal to/surpassing the amount of a Butler (Which i think is roughly $30k/year) if you didn't get a named scholarship in your initial acceptance email?
