got held and guaranteed a decision by 4/24, much like many others on this thread. haven't been invited to interview yet. safe to assume i won't be? and is that a bad sign? i'm guessing yes.

A good number (perhaps a majority) of applicants who've been accepted were never interviewed.

I was reserved and my advisor strongly recommended to meet with an admissions officer to discuss my background and ask questions, however, the admissions office said that they do not allow for those types of meetings. Has anyone tried to arrange one? What did you say when they asked you what you want to discuss? I understand they do not grant admissions interviews on request, but most schools allow to meet with an officer (NYU certainly does) to at least ask general questions and discuss the admissions process, but Columbia seems to be very strict about it.

that will be my figure on graduation -- and I bet yours will actually be lower. That amount isn't actually that bad. other than wealthy students, others have it worse.

If they don't have any better T14 offers it would work but hard to say without knowing what else they're working with

I called and requested my award since the deadline was approaching. Sent my paperwork early march I think. It comes in the mail but you can ask for them to scan you a copy and email.

I called again and they said maybe by April 24th.

So the timeline so far has been end of March -> mid April -> April 24th

What will they say next time

I want to believe there's some logic behind telling some people they're held until April 24 but then holding a bunch of others anyway, but it just makes zero sense.

Next they'll say you might hear by 2020.

Not good to be honest. I applied first thing in the cycle after leaving my job in the US (IP) to teach at a Uni at my home country. Apparently that was not a good decision, as Y/S decided to reject me instead of WLing me like my last cycle. Still, I hope H is more understanding, or that Columbia finally gives me a decision :p

Good luck this week everyone! I would assume/hope they're gonna send out the remaining decisions!

Dinged last Friday via snail mail. Expected, so not much disappointment.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
