So who do they usually hold? Is it like WL? YP or borderline candidates? What do you guys that were held consider yourself to be. I actually don't think I fit into either category- I thought I was a pretty good candidate.

Went complete early December, but then snagged an interview slot in January. Guessing my "official" complete date is 1/16.

Sorry if this has been covered... but is "held" the term NU uses for WL? Haven't many of you been waiting for months already? I'd think they'd be able to give you a solid yes, no or WL by now... I suppose Johann considers 'held' a decision since he included that option in the whole '42% of JD applicants have received a decision' stat.

Held is BS. It's basically a waitlist, but they say that it isn't a waitlist. It's a non-decision that they consider to be a decision when it suits them.

Is NU's "held" like Cornell's "reserve"? Where they reassess in May and then put together an actual WL?

The letter mentioned that they are re-evaluating applications in April, at which point applicants are either accepted, rejected, or placed on a "summer waitlist."

... but I guess probably borderline b/c of the shitty GPA and the fact that I couldn't interview (no slots available that didn't conflict with work meetings)

+1, except that I did interview (and thought that it went really well).
I'm a splitter with a 3.5, great work experience and a graduate degree.

Just a hunch, but I doubt them holding you had much to do with them not being impressed by your application.

Hey I'm a splitter too! I also didn't get a chance to interview. Looks like us splitters didn't fair well this round.

I just filled out a short sheet with my name, LSAC number and birthdate and saying I still wish to be under consideration. We have other questions as well?

You have to write essays if you get 'held?' Really tho?
