So who do they usually hold? Is it like WL? YP or borderline candidates? What do you guys that were held consider yourself to be. I actually don't think I fit into either category- I thought I was a pretty good candidate.

Went complete early December, but then snagged an interview slot in January. Guessing my "official" complete date is 1/16.monkeyKT wrote:submitted 1/12 but still at complete. Anyone else?

I suppose Johann considers 'held' a decision since he included that option in the whole '42% of JD applicants have received a decision' stat.
Held is BS. It's basically a waitlist, but they say that it isn't a waitlist. It's a non-decision that they consider to be a decision when it suits them.

I feel like I should turn this into a drinking game. Every time someone posts a decision and I check my status and it still says complete, I'm gonna take a drink.
Sorry to all the non-acceptances.
Congrats to those who got in!
For those whose files got thrown in the trash and dumped in Lake Michigan along with mine, drink with me!
Edit: Complete 11/14

Yup, sounds like the same thing to me.tincan678 wrote:The letter mentioned that they are re-evaluating applications in April, at which point applicants are either accepted, rejected, or placed on a "summer waitlist."Dipper wrote:That's a bummer guys, sorry.
Is NU's "held" like Cornell's "reserve"? Where they reassess in May and then put together an actual WL?
(Still complete here.)

+1, except that I did interview (and thought that it went really well).Gray wrote:+1 - splitter with 3+ years of W/Eticklemesilly wrote: I actually don't think I fit into either category- I thought I was a pretty good candidate.
... but I guess probably borderline b/c of the shitty GPA and the fact that I couldn't interview (no slots available that didn't conflict with work meetings)
I'm a splitter with a 3.5, great work experience and a graduate degree.

Just a hunch, but I doubt them holding you had much to do with them not being impressed by your application.

Hey I'm a splitter too! I also didn't get a chance to interview. Looks like us splitters didn't fair well this round.fra wrote:+1, except that I did interview (and thought that it went really well).Gray wrote:+1 - splitter with 3+ years of W/Eticklemesilly wrote: I actually don't think I fit into either category- I thought I was a pretty good candidate.

I'm hoping that there will be another wave, that it will be a wave of acceptances, and that we'll be in it.

Also held. Complete ages ago but my latest complete date was on 2/16 because they requested a second interview at the end of January.

Does anyone remember how long the responses are supposed to be for the held questions? I remember seeing it a few pages back but can't seem to find it.

I just filled out a short sheet with my name, LSAC number and birthdate and saying I still wish to be under consideration. We have other questions as well?imKMart wrote:Does anyone remember how long the responses are supposed to be for the held questions? I remember seeing it a few pages back but can't seem to find it.
