Hey friends - advice needed.

I'm a URM who was waitlisted last month with a 3.4/164. I just got my Feb. results back and I received a 168.

Any thought on if this will be enough to get me off the waitlist?

Let them know ASAP - like right now - if you haven't already.

And yeah, a 168 moves you to just below their median. Combine that w/ URM status and it probably compensates well for the sub 25th percentile GPA.

Just my 2 cents though. I'm not a UVA student and haven't gotten a decision on my app yet, so I'm by no means an expert on UVA's admission practices.

I agree with this, but just a note-

When you are sending them the updated LSAT report, make sure to include an addendum to your application stating the reasons why you feel you did better in February and why that score should be considered more heavily than your previous score.

I applied to UVA and Cornell back in Nov and I haven't even been WLed. I was in the first few waves of a few T6 schools so I know I'm competitive for UVA and Cornell. If I'm gonna get YPed, shouldn't I have already gotten at least an interview request or a WL?
Nothing here either :(

Not sure whether I should post this here or in the ask a student/graduate section....

This may sound like a weird request but I got waitlisted and UVA is by far my top choice. I'm visiting the school in a few weeks, meeting with admissions, etc. Would a current student be willing to talk with me while I'm on campus about the school?

Feel free to PM.

Also, does anyone know how long the law school tour lasts? Trying to plan my visit.

Thanks!

Nope. I was told that them conducting interviews made why UVA essays not important.

Did not realize they would be selecting people for interviews based on a why UVA essay and what I am assuming are either star and planet movement or a magic 8 ball.

I personally imagine they throw the applications down a set of stairs and then select the ones on the highest stairs for interviews/acceptance.

I thought that was how you graded papers.

I did. I was admitted without an interview, but between my PS and the Why UVA, I don't think there would've been much more to discuss during an interview. I'm also in-state, though, and I think they consider VA residents separately from the out-of-state folks because they have a quota to fill. So my input isn't particularly useful, come to think of it :/

I was admitted without a formal interview and a why UVA. I did talk to one of the admissions deans for 5 min or so. I got the email that asked me to call and I called in. I think a why UVA could help, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Has anyone gotten scholarship info from them yet?

If you check in the UVA Class of 2017 thread, a bunch of folks got full-tuition Dillard scholarships today. Otherwise, I don't think anybody's received other merit- or need-based info.

Just admitted! I got an E-mail from Dean Richard asking me to call, and was admitted over the phone. No interview prior to this, and application submitted around 12/25--GPA >75th, LSAT b/w 25th-50th.

I received the email (discussed above) asking to call and made the call but was not offered admission... Is this a really bad sign?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
