I'm getting the feeling much of the group vs individual setup may be geographic. Not many people to group together in rural Texas.

I was thinking all the group interviews are in DC. Of course it's all speculation

I think most of them are, but at least two were in New York.

I'm confused about this group interview request. Does it mean that I'm basically in a panel with other 8-15 other applicants? That sounds more informational then anything and I have no idea how the Dean would center on each individual.

I've been trying to get some insight on this as well, but it seems like there's not a lot of information about it in this thread. I'm not really sure what to expect. In the brief things I've found, it appears that the Dean (or whoever the moderator is for your particular interview) gives a discussion topic to the group and observes as they discuss it among themselves.

I don't know if each group interview is the same set-up, but the idea is to see how well you play with others. I wasn't asked why law, why GULC or any other typical interview questions. I actually had a really good time in my group interview. From my sample size of one, getting placed in a group interview rather than a one-on-one didn't appear to hurt me, since I did get in. The dean expressed that his goal is to make the application process more personalized and less of a black box.

I'd really like to hear more about your group interview. What kinds of topics did the group discuss? Mine is coming up...

I think at this point we can safely assume that you should not come to any conclusions based on the status date updates. There are more than a few variations that have resulted in people getting in, and that's just the people who have actually posted it on TLS.

FWIW, I think it would be way easier than an in-person one, LSHopeful. You don't even need to put on real pants I've had friends who have done teleconference interviews and they've always been fun and less nerve-wracking. Just make sure there's nothing risque or offensive behind you in the screen and you'll be good to go! (:

Why do you think it is that some people get group interview requests while others get one-on-on requests? (since it doesn't appear to be geographic)

Took about two weeks for my GULC interviewer to get back to me. (LA as well.)

Interview invitation received last Monday and I just got in contact with my interviewer earlier today. Pretty surprised since people were saying it could take weeks so I guess I got lucky
