Yeah, UVA doesn't send email WL notifications, either. I finally got around to looking at my status-checker yesterday and found out I'd been waitlisted back in February.DeeCee wrote:Anyway, jokes aside, I always thought UNC was good about the WL. Hopefully they don't get like UVA and WL everybody, meaning essentially no one would come off the list.

I'm right @ the 50% LSAT and slightly lower GPA than their 25% mark.DeeCee wrote:Maybe there is a rhyme or reason to this-- I noticed earlier in the month they were WL those with low GPA/ 50-75th LSATs.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Hey Everyone, I was just waitlisted today as well! I feel like I am coming in late in the game (well 76 pages later for this thread I guess), but since it has been like 6-7 months since I submitted my app i had assumed I was rejected. Anyway, now I am really interested in UNC again, and was wondering how much more competitive (if at all) it was for out of state people? I know it is like 70 -30 in state, but do less out of state people apply? They really do seem to be waitlisting everyone but... it is worth a shot right? Any help would be awesome!

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Yea sure. My LSAC GPA was a 3.94 but my lsat was 151. Wrote an LSAT addendum and really stressed my resume/internship experience. It was a reach and a half for me but going this long I kind of figured they would have rejected me by now and maybe my GPA would have helped. Got waitlisted at IU-Bloomington so thought I may have had a chance. Good luck to everyone else though.aknecht wrote:so this is proof they actually did reject people..... well a single person anyway.pacers3177 wrote:Just got denied....was a reverse splitter OOS

I don't think so, I check my spam periodically. It's possible that I was totally spaced out and selected 'Delete All' at some point, but.. I don't know, I can't imagine an @virginia.edu address going to my spam box.DeeCee wrote:Really?? I got an email for the WL in Feb. Maybe it went in your spam for some reason?

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Sorry for all the bad news guys/gals. For what its worth I didn't get into UNC the first year I applied either. I scored a a little higher on the LSAT, sent my app in before the winter break (when I think they actually read a lot of apps), actually did the optional essays, and was finally accepted in one of the first batches.

For what it's worth, if you look at the WL2010 thread they accepted a handfull of people mid-late May and then gradually trickled them in from the list late June till the first day of classes.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
curious as to everyone's attitude on this. I know its different for everyone but I plan on going to Chicago Kent (can't bank on getting into UNC) which requires me to move from DC to Chicago. I plan on doing this in mid July. If I get a call on July 30th, it would be very difficult to turn around and move down to NC. Is anyone else in a similar situation? How would you handle things?lolrskates wrote:For what it's worth, if you look at the WL2010 thread they accepted a handfull of people mid-late May and then gradually trickled them in from the list late June till the first day of classes.

I am in a similar situation. Currently I plan on getting an apartment for my backup school and just riding it out. I would honestly drop everything and pay two rents if I had to. However, i am going to try and find an apartment with a breaking clause in their contract. Maybe pay three months rent and they let you out of the lease. I guess you just have to decide if it's worth it to you.aknecht wrote:curious as to everyone's attitude on this. what school is your backup? I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to drop everything after moving. I guess its all a "what if" game right now and its probably a long shot but I feel its best to mentally prepare for it anyway.Bobo355 wrote:I am in a similar situation. You might be able to negotiate this. You would probably have to pay a fee for it, but you could also find someone else to take your place on the lease and get the landlord to sign a novation so you aren't liable for rent (ask him/her first though, since landlords tend to not like novations). There's no easy fix, but there are at least options.. :/

My backup is UF. But I'm a gainesville native, I must have skipped over the fact you were moving first. Yeah, if i had to move and then consider dropping everything that would change things. Stressful that's for sure...aknecht wrote:what school is your backup? I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to drop everything after moving.
