I hope I can give the PT WL some hope as I've been staring at the carnage over at LSN and the good news is this, the one PT acceptance (riburn3 please clarify if your still lurking here) has stated they are leaning towards not even going to law school this year. There have been alot of rejections and 4 (by my count) WL. I would have to think they there are definately still PT slots available and patience will be key. At least thats what I keep telling myself after STILL being in review since 4/20/2010 w/ no updates.
It is, and not due laziness or lack of willingness to relocate elsewhere. This is my second application to the program in as many years.rdcws000 wrote:BleedBlue83, is UH your first and only choice?
Oh, I wasn't implying laziness! I only asked because I wondered if you considered STCL as a backup option. Believe me, I understand the difference in prospects between the schools, but since you are already employed and considering staying in the same field (same as me) don't you think you could accomplish this goal at another school?BleedBlue83 wrote:It is, and not due laziness or lack of willingness to relocate elsewhere. My FT job is here (relevant if offered PT admission). I work in the energy (O&G) industry and want to stay in it after obtaining my JD, so I place a lot of value in being able to continue networking here.... Wedding in the fall, fiance has a stable job here, family obligations here in Houston, it just adds up as the right place for my circumstances.
EDIT: Would someone be kind enough to copy and paste the e-mail sent out 5/18 re: the WL?

Sorry, I didn't think you were calling me lazy - don't know why I came off defensively in my reply.rdcws000 wrote:Oh, I wasn't implying laziness! UH was by far my first choice. I was very let down when I was rejected. I also don't mean to jinx you, the fact that you are on the waitlist is a more positive sign than I received. However, it can help alleviate the stress if you have another, albeit inferior, option.

Your post reminds me of a funny story:
When asked by one of my managers who wrote my an LOR if I would consider STCL, I replied that it was UHLC or bust - telling him I just didn't feel STCL quite cut it. He then told me that his daughter graduated with her JD from STCL...

I'm in similar boat being reluctant to risk good job and wanting that higher probabality the rankings give.In hindsight I suppose should have sent an application to STCL as a backup, but I'm still not sure that I would choose to attend were I accepted.
Now there's a charge.
