Re: TLS c/o 2021 Applicants Thread
Anyone else feeling like they may have overshot this cycle? I think coming from a top undergrad and working in big law now gave me a false sense of entitlement when my numbers aren't excellent. I still have a ton of apps pending, but not feeling super optimistic

Very much so. I feel so much less confident now than I did 3 months ago.mistakepluskeleven wrote:Anyone else feeling like they may have overshot this cycle? It sucks to be applying in the first cycle to have an increase in apps since 2008ish. Just our luck. Spivey and others claim our prez is to thank/blame for the increase. :/invisibleone wrote:Very much so. Re: TLS c/o 2021 Applicants Thread
This is true, but it seems that we’ll still be way down from the height of law school apps in 2008 even if there’s a huge increase in apps. I think law schools are just being extra cautious on acceptances this cycle until they see exactly how big the uptick is. I mean, if there’s a 14% increase in apps, that really only puts us back at like a 2014-level of competitiveness overall, right?SopranoSaxophone wrote:It sucks to be applying in the first cycle to have an increase in apps since 2008ish. Re: TLS c/o 2021 Applicants Thread
Can I get some advice on sending LOCI? I've seen mixed opinions on when to send these to schools where I've been waitlisted. Some sites say to send them ASAP after receiving the waitlist offer while others say to wait until March/April to send them in. What are your thoughts? I already have some of my letters drafted but want to be sure I send them at the appropriate/optimal time.
Thanks for the help!

If you don’t mind me asking, what schools have you applied to, when did you apply to them, and what are you “not excellent” numbers? That all has bearing on why you may not have heard back yet. Did you submit any “why x” essays? Feel free to PM me! I’m working in Big Law right now too but I applied super early and applied to 9 schools, some T14 some just outside of it.mistakepluskeleven wrote:Anyone else feeling like they may have overshot this cycle? Re: TLS c/o 2021 Applicants Thread
I think this is very wise. It could be that the uptick's biggest impact on the cycle is that it's drawn out. Looking at past cyles' applicants with your numbers and the timelines for their acceptances, and expecting yours to mirror, is maybe just setting yourself up for unnecessary stress. Several months left!#gobroncos wrote:This is true, but it seems that we’ll still be way down from the height of law school apps in 2008 even if there’s a huge increase in apps. Just a reminder to folks that we have spreadsheets stickied up top. They only handle the top 19 schools, but provide slightly more analysis than LSN, albeit on a limited data set. The more of us who participate, the better they get.

Re: TLS c/o 2021 Applicants Thread
Just got into Wake Forest! They said I have until January 20th to send them scholarship offers I'd like them to consider from other schools when determining my scholarship award from them. My question is, I've only been admitted with scholarships from Michigan State, Duquesne, Chicago-Kent-, Penn State, and Cardozo so far, so is there even a point in sending in those offers when they're not even similarly ranked to Wake Forest?

Voted in the new poll today but it didn’t register to me that it meant we had a new OP!

Same. Last summer after getting my score I was actually thinking I had an outside shot at a Ruby. What hubris. Applying kjd was a VERY bad move I'm sensing.DaydreamNation wrote:Yesmistakepluskeleven wrote:Anyone else feeling like they may have overshot this cycle?

yo the chicago thing sucks and all, but you have great stats - your cycle is far from over and I'm sure you'll have some fantastic outcomes to chose betweendm1683 wrote:Same. Hey, I'd kill for some of your outcomes from this cycle. Don't get down on yourself because you have some objectively great options already and if at the end of your cycle you still feel like you've undershot because you're K-JD, then the fix for that is the simplest thing ever: just get a year or so of work experience, reapply (in what probably will be a less competitive/high-applicant cycle), and reap the benefits!dm1683 wrote:Same.
