Disclaimer: I have not received my scholarship info yet.

I have two opinions. a) On their site, Berkeley says that 17-75K is the standard range for awards. I'm assuming that, with negotiation, one could push them a little over 75K, but they are probably staying under that on initial offers. b) Just looking at LSN, the people who found out yesterday were mostly at and under median LSAT, so they might have been low-balled.

Who knows, though *shrug* :)

I should note I haven't received mine yet either. I just ask because I saw some ppl with high stats get shit offers. But your theory may be right. We shall see!

Hoping their negotiaton process is timely too, since their record in that arena isn't the best either. Best of luck.

Is there a possibility that Berkeley could even come close to matching my Darrow? I would need at least 80% tuition to be able to maybe justify matriculation.

I was admitted 1/17 and am really bummed I haven't gotten any notification about money yet. I need to know about money before I can decide whether to invest several hundred dollars in ASW (even with the travel subsidy).

Same admit day and also really wanting to hear back on money to justify an expensive trip to the bay

I just sent them an email asking if they could let me know soon/now. I'm guessing it won't help but it's worth a shot?

I'm just wondering if your admission emails contain stuff like "we are sending out financial aid information later. "
Mine just mentions something about their financial aid website.
Should I be expecting an aid letter at all?
(Also, I didn't fill out CSS. Thought since I'm international why bother. Should I though? Do I need to have a CSS profile to have Berk consider merit aid?)

Got a quick and entirely unhelpful response:

"The scholarship review process has begun and multiple rounds of awards will continue through the spring. We regret that we are not able to provide an exact date when you will hear beyond this nor and amount, however. Rest assured we are working on it as we have many worthy candidates."

Question for all those receiving scholarship e-mails.

Did any of you apply for the extra named scholarships Berkeley offered?

I ask because i did, and did not receive info. I would wager that applying for the extra stuff might slow the process down.

Just curious.

Doesn't Berkeley put less emphasis on the numbers and more on your softs in their decision for scholarships? I remember reading that somewhere on the website...

Impossible to tell since they switched away from their scholarship matching program.

I would have argued that they were more numbers conscious before, since they were simply responding to other schools numbers based offers.

What they say is irrelevant. Its like trying to date girls - you have to respond to what they do, not what they say.

everyone says that softs are important, yet numbers are the only accurate predictor of success.

How casually people say things like this is just stunning. Is the implication that "girls" are as a group dishonest or too dumb to know what they actually want?

Was accepted in very early Jan, got financial aid award this weekend: 30K total (I'm a CA resident). Received 90K from Duke. URM, below medians

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
