K-JD here. I just got my grades from fall semester, and I want to update my application transcripts to include these grades. Does anyone know how to do that? I called the admissions office, but they're already closed for the holidays.
And congrats to the new JS1s!!

Send them in to LSAC the same way you sent in the original transcript. They will automatically update the schools.Sacred Cow wrote:K-JD here. I just made a transfer request online with my school and sent Harvard a short e-mail telling them about my GPA improvement and that they'd be receiving an updated transcript shortly that reflects that info. They probably won't get the transcript for a while, but a couple schools already emailed me back saying that they added the information to my records (Harvard didn't email me back though).Sacred Cow wrote:K-JD here. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Hi 0Ls, Congrats to those of you who got in/ got JS1s!! Hope you see many of you next year
I'm a current 1L at HLS (I know HorseThief IRL, so maybe that gives me credibility despite the 0 posts) and TLS helped me out a ton last year, figured it was time to give back.
For anyone freaking out about your application, a word of hope... I took the June LSAT, applied in November, got insta-rejected from YLS, heard nothing from H/S for a looonnngg time. I decided to retake the Feb LSAT on a whim, barely studied for that one, but went in way calmer than in June and scored higher. I was still slightly below both medians, but got a JS1 sometime in March and a JS2 around 1.5 weeks later.
Obviously, a single anecdote does not a pattern make, so make of my experience what you will. It's extremely difficult (and I failed at it miserably), but try and stay calm through the application season, and enjoy this year... hang out with your friends and family, read for pleasure, watch stupid TV shows, go rock-climbing... whatever you do for fun. You will be surprised at how quickly life changes once September hits.
Anyone have any questions on the interview, being an international student at HLS, joint degree programs w/e, feel free to holler. I'll also be in the Admitted Students forum for anyone who's already gotten in (congrats again!!).

Does anyone know how I cancel/withdraw applications? Like, I just got into one of my dream schools, so I want to withdraw a few apps from places I no longer care about, since I feel like it wouldn't be fair to stay in the ring + it's a waste of the admissions peoples' time.

Just email the admissions offices telling them you'd like to withdraw and include your name and LSAC number in the message. The Argus wrote:Does anyone know how I cancel/withdraw applications? Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I don't think Argus is considering withdrawing from H in light of how stoked they seemed to be about the JS1 that followed their Y acceptance.
If you are considering withdrawing from H, you probably shouldn't. Since both H and Y offer solely need based aid you might be able to use packages at one or the other (if they end up differing by a significant amount) to negotiate with the other school and get them to recalculate your eligibility.

Are merit based scholarships worthless for negotiating at HYS?lc39 wrote:I don't think Argus is considering withdrawing from H in light of how stoked they seemed to be about the JS1 that followed their Y acceptance.

No idea, but if they're firm on "need based only" I can't imagine even a Hammy/Ruby would sway them.Seoulless wrote:Are merit based scholarships worthless for negotiating at HYS?lc39 wrote:I don't think Argus is considering withdrawing from H in light of how stoked they seemed to be about the JS1 that followed their Y acceptance.

Just to clarify, I am NOT thinking about withdrawing from Harvard (or Stanford) b/c of Yale. I wanna withdraw from a few other places I care a lot less about.lc39 wrote:I don't think Argus is considering withdrawing from H in light of how stoked they seemed to be about the JS1 that followed their Y acceptance.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Yes. They don't care about other need-based schollys. However, if you get Y/S, definitely stay in the running. Both Y and S tend to have more lenient need-based aid which H will probably match. The rumor mill also suggests that H might be willing to throw in some extra money to sway you away from Y/S.Seoulless wrote:Are merit based scholarships worthless for negotiating at HYS?lc39 wrote:I don't think Argus is considering withdrawing from H in light of how stoked they seemed to be about the JS1 that followed their Y acceptance.
