In case anyone besides me is stressing while waiting for a decision on a deferral request: I called the office today to find out when/if I could expect a decision (since they've had my seat deposit and deferral request for 2 weeks), and the guy said that the admissions committee is reviewing a batch of deferral requests today and I should find out next week.

also for those who were held, johann addressed a tweet on the value of doing an oncampus interview even after you have done an off campus one.

Sure seems that way. If I get a decision this afternoon, it will have only been 10 weeks. If not, we're going to eleven.

For a school so hardass about its business approach, you'd think that they would understand that in the business world, you have to meet your deadlines.

Just FYI, the 8 weeks starts Dec. 1, so if you submitted before that, it doesn't count. They stated this explicitly.

I think they tend to expedite decisions on so-called "lock" applicants, and keep everyone else in limbo while they see how the pool is turning out.

I think Northwestern is just toying with me now. I really have no idea what's going on. I received my first "decision rendered" email on Tuesday, which was the day that their whole status checker website went bonkers and decision letter PDFs were unavailable. The following day, on Wednesday, they sorted out their uploading problems and I officially found out that I was held.

Just a few minutes ago, I received another email from Northwestern informing me that a comittee decision has been made. The letter on my status checker is still the one dated February 8, 2011. Anyone else have this happen to them? Should I be expecting a different decision letter to be uploaded? I got a little excited with everyone receiving positive news today.

Can you let me know what they say if and when they get back to you?

edit: seeing Gotti posting above me, I'm thinking they either had an error with their system or resent out the email to all of us 2/8 holds.
