Anybody know how long it takes to go from processing to complete to review to decision? I've been processing since 12/3. Call me lazy, but I simply don't want to have to sift through 75 pages for information one of you knows offhand.

Yeah, you probably have a bit of a wait. I sent mine in mid November and I'm still processing. Now that the EAs are complete, I think we can start to expect to see some movement with the non-EA crew. I'm pretty sure the ad-coms havent even touched the RD apps yet.AdamAndSteve wrote:Anybody know how long it takes to go from processing to complete to review to decision? Ha! Glad others are in the same boat, albeit much closer to the stern.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Question: Has anyone written the scholarship essay? I'm struggling with how to write it. It says "offering advice to a college student" so am I actually speaking directly to the student? That feels terribly awkward. Or is it a hypothetical, "I would recommend.." type of thing?
I don't suppose there's a RIGHT answer here, but what are your thoughts?
(Yes.. I am working on mine on Christmas.. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!)

From LSN it's 7.8%, way above other T14 schools.Bildungsroman wrote:What high attrition rate?csoloski wrote:any thoughts on cornell's high attrition rate?

Totally unrelated, but I realized I hadn't said "Merry Christmas" on TLS yet, and I need to say it before the strike of midnight. So Merry Christmas all! Or, happy chrismahannakwanzaka to all, in an effort to be more all-encompassing. I hope the holiday's end brings many acceptances to everyone

Nah, don't pay attention to LSN's profiles on the schools, they're way out of date. According to the most recent ABA data, Cornell's first year attrition was a total of 4 students, for a total attrition rate of 2%: http://officialguide.lsac.org/Release/S ... I'm not too worried about their attrition rate.

Yeah, I would say AA is sort of "middle-of-nowhere"mths wrote:must be awesome to live near detroitFiveSermon wrote:But Chicago and Ann Arbor aren't in the middle of nowhere.HeavenWood wrote:It's not that much colder than Chicago or Ann Arbor.masterthearts wrote: Maybe the student's can't take the cold, frigid weather.

No place with more than 20,000 people is "nowhere." Ann Arbor has hundreds of thousands.

Hmmmm.... Having grown up in a small town of 26,000 in rural Idaho, I'd be interested in contesting your logic. Just because the census bureau defines anything over 20,000 as urban doesn't mean it's interesting.Tanicius wrote:

Furthermore, having visited Oklahoma City, higher populations don't exempt some place from being in the middle of nowhere. That being said, I've heard Ann Arbor is a fun college town. Not because of its size though.

There isn't a lot to do in Ithaca, but going on wine tours is seriously fun and cheap and open all year round.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
