I also go accepted to Suffolk Law, but I am unsure of how I would like the cold weather in Boston and the fact that I would have to stay there to work.

Re: South Texas 2011
I moved from Boston to Texas last year and I would definitely recommend it. I was in law school for a few months and had to drop out because of my now ex husband to move here. However, law school is a lot cheaper down here because the cost of living in Boston is crazy. I love the warm weather in Texas but the cold weather in MA isn't enough to keep me away after I'm done with school. You should definitely consider going to Suffolk though!andrewb414 wrote:I also go accepted to Suffolk Law, but I am unsure of how I would like the cold weather in Boston and the fact that I would have to stay there to work.

Ok something looks different on my app checker site but it's not the status: am I going nuts or did they add "Country of Citizenship" and "LSAC Number" to the Bio/Address/Demographics square??? I swear that wasn't there before. And I'm from USA (born & raised in TX) so it's not something that stands out on my app... hmmmmmmmmmmm

I noticed that too and my heart jumped a beat thinking they finally made a decision. I guess they added that at the end of last week.gigemgirl12 wrote:Ok something looks different on my app checker site but it's not the status: am I going nuts or did they add "Country of Citizenship" and "LSAC Number" to the Bio/Address/Demographics square??? I noticed the "Full (JD)" went to "full (JD)" about a week or so ago.
Also, I think they added the admissions email at the bottom of the page?
It's all driving me nuts, too!

I sent my seat deposit last Wednesday via Priority Mail and live in Houston. They should have received it Thursday or Friday at the latest, yet nothing has updated on the status checker. I sent them an email to see if they have received it... Hopefully USPS realized all these letters coming to the wrong zip code and figures it out...

FWIW I called and tried to see if they could tear or destroy my seat deposit check, since it has not gone through the bank. He said even though it wasn't processed, they won't work with me on it (non-refundable). They also said if I stopped payment on the check, they'd "bill me".

I mailed mine regular mail from Bryan last Wednesday and it updated to received deposit on Thursday, and I sent it to the 77009 zip code. I'd call them if I were you.FutureLitigator27 wrote:I sent my seat deposit last Wednesday via Priority Mail and live in Houston. I mailed mine certified from Dallas on Friday, April 8, and they received it Tuesday, April 12, processed same day, deducted from my account on the 13th.

I'd still do a stop payment on the check. I highly doubt they will bill you. The administration at this school is a joke and they can barely tell the difference from their assholes and their mouths. Or at least, put a stop payment on it for me.txadv11 wrote:FWIW I called and tried to see if they could tear or destroy my seat deposit check, since it has not gone through the bank. I'd still stop payment. Save yourself $70-$75.
What, exactly, would the be billing you for?
"Please accept this bill for a voluntary deposit that you opted not to pay."
I don't think so.
Let them bill you, refuse to pay, let it go to collections, contest the debt with collections, by this time you should be graduated...sue their asses!

Re: South Texas 2011
Yeah, after working on the legal side of these kinds of things (generally >$1000) it is just not worth it. In principle, possibly, but not in extra time, and risking another 30 bucks. I was just hoping they'd work with students, but I guess not...merc280 wrote:Beestinga wrote:I'd still stop payment. Save yourself $70-$75.

Anyways, sorry for semi-derail, just wanted to give a heads up to the 2-3 other people who are withdrawing, or said so, recently, that they won't work with you on the deposit.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
