I find it curious that many of you claim "SMU looks beyond numbers" yet they admitted 99% of the applicants who had 163s and above. Actually, per this thread, the ONLY people they've accepted into the FT program(thus far) are those with 163+.

Feel free to offer your own alternative explanation. The range between the 25% and 75% LSAT scores for SMU is about twice the size of other schools. We've offered one possible explanation.

"This thread" is a pretty small sample size to form the basis of any generalizations regarding their acceptance criteria. It may be true that they haven't accepted anyone in this thread into the FT program with anything under a 163... but the fact that the 25% LSAT score is a 155 means that they do admit a lot of folks with scores of 155 and below. Just because they aren't posting in this thread doesn't mean they don't exist. Also, if you check LSN, there are several sub-160s who have been admitted... and a good portion of them are for full time.

Agreed. How could you argue to the contrary. I haven't done much research into the subject, but I would be willing to bet that SMU's LSAT range has a top 10 rank for largest LSAT broadness between 25 - 75. That means that 155ers have to offer something equally as attractive as the 165ers to be admitted. I honestly doubt that GPA is the only other ingredient, so it must be something else, non-numbers related.

Well that seems to be one way SMU could climb the rankings more than a point next year, close the gap.

Me too. Only a little more than 1/2 a month until we know though. So be grateful that we haven't been rejected yet, as this means (I am assuming) they have seen something in our application that deems us worthy of further consideration. The wait will be over soon.

Unless they have a 100% yield, they still need to accept a second batch slightly bigger than the first batch. Just take a deep breath and hope that you are in it.

I'm still waiting. LSN shows others with similar numbers to me that have been accepted and even some who have been offered $$, so I'm still hopeful.

didn't somebody a while back say that at ASD they were told that SMU had already handed out approximately 10% of the number of acceptances they were going to give out, and that they were going to give out another 10%-15% beginning at the end of April? If you look back through this forum I think you will find this.

Yup I was the one who said that. They mentioned it at the first ASD.

Just hang tight and you'll find out soon enough.

I think they said they have handed acceptances to 10% of all applications received thus far.
