more seats for the waitlisters then.dmc1275 wrote:100% agreed. The longer I don't hear about $$, the less likely I make a visit. No visit = no chance of attending for me.chargers21 wrote:Not having financial aid info yet is killing the chances for me going to Berkeley. Anyone else? I live really far away, so the travel stipend doesn't cover enough of the cost of a trip to California for me to visit without a realistic chance of financially being able to attend the school. As someone who has never been to California in general, I also couldn't move there without first visiting. This whole thing is creating quite the quandary for me

Whoa sorry but I will definitely need some need based aid and I'm wondering what CSS is?needbasedlaw wrote:1. Berkeley requires parental information on CSS AND FAFSA. [Although, I may qualify for an exemption to have this information excluded.]
2. Berkeley has a 3/2 need-based aid final deadline for submitting CSS and FAFSA. [Is this really a hard deadline for those without a decision yet?]
3. I probably won't hear from Berkeley if I'm accepted/WL/denied before 3/2.
4. I have other schools where I will be applying for need-based aid that do not require my parent information on the FAFSA or on the CSS.
5. I've also applied to a merit scholarship at Berkeley.
Anyone request the exemption for parental information being included for need-based aid? If you get the exemption it seems that you still have to have submitted your parental information on the FAFSA/CSS, it is just that Berkeley will not include it in their calculation. Am I interpreting this correctly or can you then get away with not having included it at all?
So, do I awkwardly request an exemption before hearing my admissions decision? Do I fill out my financial aid forms based on my love of Berkeley, hope of acceptance, and uncertainty of merit aid? I really, really like Berkeley Law. I just want to make sure that if I am lucky enough to be accepted that I haven't screwed myself out of being able to attend because I messed up financial aid.

Just got mine too. I can't complain since it's good for Berkeley.

I wouldn't worry. I was first wave and haven't received anything yet, and I filled out the CSS and FAFSA info as soon as I could. Perhaps the awards are trickling out?Keilz wrote:Oh man, I was accepted 1/17 and didn't get an email.armc808 wrote:Also received scholly email. Went complete 12/8, UR1 12/23, accepted 1/17. For those who got the scholarship e-mails, was it from the Admissions Office or FinAid?

Do you think you need to submit a CSS to get merit aid?

Went complete 1/11, UR 2/6, still waiting on a decision. I think you can expect it to take awhile.nzmich wrote:Went complete feb. 2nd, anyone know when I can expect a decision??? Are people that went complete earlier still waiting ??

Any theories on why Berkeley appears to be so stingy this year?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
