UR3, no interview. Is this the end?

No. I just contacted adcomms...interviews are not necessary for admit. In fact, they are only used if the committee wants to "get to know the applicant better" (direct quote). I think they're comparable to Columbia's process - borderline applicants/scholarship winners.

Ruby winners, feel free to chime in. Did you have an interview?

Wow that's really surprising! Everything on here has suggested that interviews are necessary. Can't remember anybody posting that they got in without one.

Well...they could've lied to me to make me feel better.

No, no I definitely believe you, they would be the authorities on that! It's just a strange thing because obviously we've seen people get in w/ no interview for Columbia but haven't seen the same thing here!

FWIW, my friend who goes to Chicago told me that Chicago interviews everyone they are serious about?

I also definitely wasn't a Ruby candidate and sort of a borderline candidate because of Chicago's emphasis on GPA. My friend however was definitely not a borderline candidate but probably also won't be a Ruby candidate and got an interview. We both got in.

Got into Columbia with Butler w/o interview a month ago. Now I'm UR3 for Chicago and still no interview request. I graduated from a decent liberal arts college in the midwest and kinda expected that to help with my app to UChi.

Each time the date on the status checker changes when "Under Review" is a new UR#. So the first date when "Under Review" is UR1, the next date change = UR2, etc. Most admits get an interview before hitting UR2. So when some of us hit UR3 without an interview, we don't expect that sweet, sweet relief.

I believe an interview isn't strictly required but they do most of the time. There is no way to know unless you've been keeping track, you can guess at what your most recent status date is based on how far you are in the process.

The consensus here has been that you must interview for admittance, however on Chicago's page about interviewing, it says that, "Our goal is to interview as many potential members of the incoming class as possible," suggesting that they may not attain that goal and it also says, "it is not mandatory to accept the invitation," suggesting that you do not have to do an interview to get accepted (or maybe they're being very literal and saying, "Yeah technically you don't have to do it, but we're not going to accept you if you don't."

Also, as far as I know, you only know if what UR stage it is if you check the tracker daily.

Yeah I'm guessing the first half of the week. Between not having an interview request yet and the ass kicking I took last week in rejections and WLs, don't exactly have high hopes.

I think I was UR3 on 3/17 but just received a waitlist email. Applied January, at both medians, no interview. Will be visiting and sending in a LOCI.
