No, no I definitely believe you, they would be the authorities on that! It's just a strange thing because obviously we've seen people get in w/ no interview for Columbia but haven't seen the same thing here!CHyde wrote:Well...they could've lied to me to make me feel better.Anon.y.mousse. wrote:Wow that's really surprising! Ruby winners, feel free to chime in. Did you have an interview?
Anything is possible in darkest timeline.
Edit: Strange though, I literally asked: "Is the interview a necessary condition for admittance?" Answer: "No."

I also definitely wasn't a Ruby candidate and sort of a borderline candidate because of Chicago's emphasis on GPA. My friend however was definitely not a borderline candidate but probably also won't be a Ruby candidate and got an interview. We both got in.

My numbers don't exactly put me in admit territory. I'm a reverse splitter.. so if I get WL'd I'll be happy.JDrat wrote:Same here. WL/ding coming soon?EWofNell wrote:UR3 today.. no interview :/

Got into Columbia with Butler w/o interview a month ago. Now I'm UR3 for Chicago and still no interview request. I graduated from a decent liberal arts college in the midwest and kinda expected that to help with my app to UChi.VapidP wrote:FWIW, my friend who goes to Chicago told me that Chicago interviews everyone they are serious about?Anon.y.mousse. wrote:No, no I definitely believe you, they would be the authorities on that! Each time the date on the status checker changes when "Under Review" is a new UR#. So the first date when "Under Review" is UR1, the next date change = UR2, etc. Most admits get an interview before hitting UR2. So when some of us hit UR3 without an interview, we don't expect that sweet, sweet relief.appind wrote:what do different UR #s mean?

if one didn't keep track of their date changes under "under review", is there a way to know if the date there is for UR1, UR2...?

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I believe an interview isn't strictly required but they do most of the time. There is no way to know unless you've been keeping track, you can guess at what your most recent status date is based on how far you are in the process.appind wrote:does Chi always interview before admitting?lucretius_ wrote:Each time the date on the status checker changes when "Under Review" is a new UR#. Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
The consensus here has been that you must interview for admittance, however on Chicago's page about interviewing, it says that, "Our goal is to interview as many potential members of the incoming class as possible," suggesting that they may not attain that goal and it also says, "it is not mandatory to accept the invitation," suggesting that you do not have to do an interview to get accepted (or maybe they're being very literal and saying, "Yeah technically you don't have to do it, but we're not going to accept you if you don't."appind wrote:does Chi always interview before admitting?lucretius_ wrote:Each time the date on the status checker changes when "Under Review" is a new UR#. Also, as far as I know, you only know if what UR stage it is if you check the tracker daily.

For the 3/17 UR4 people, when can we expect the decision? It'll definitely be this week, right? Any chance of tomorrow?

Yeah I'm guessing the first half of the week. Between not having an interview request yet and the ass kicking I took last week in rejections and WLs, don't exactly have high hopes.

I think I was UR3 on 3/17 but just received a waitlist email. Applied January, at both medians, no interview. Will be visiting and sending in a LOCI.bearedman8 wrote:For the 3/17 UR4 people, when can we expect the decision? It'll definitely be this week, right? Any chance of tomorrow?
