It feels like it's been so long since people have gotten accepted...what a bummer :/

Probably their class is almost full, so it takes them longer to pick among late and hold applicants.

Wow, I didn't mean to spark any arguments or anything - apologies if my own intentions weren't clear.

That said, can we channel that energy into good vibes for all the waiters? Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us. And congrats to ftge232 for having some good options. I hope the admitted students thread is helpful!

Has anyone been in touch with admissions that hasn't been held or dinged? I kinda want to inquire but don't know if that is doing too much....

I haven't been held or dinged. But I haven't contacted admissions because I just interviewed. I would inquire if you've been waiting a while. No harm in asking them about when you can anticipate a decision and why you haven't yet.

Thanks, I don't want to but I've been hanging out since early September. I've heard back from just about every school that keeps candidates informed of their status so I'm a bit worried I missed something in the stoic silence.

gobears, i'd be very interested to hear what they say if you do indeed reach out. "they" do sometimes recommend not contacting admissions, but i really don't see how a phone call in your circumstances could possibly be held against you.

I was one of those people who had been complete for a really long time with no admit, rejection, hold, reserve, or interview (today was day 99 since complete). Just got the admit email.

Still nothing for me :( Congrats though! Did you happen to get a scholarship alongside the admit?

I'm at the 134 day mark since complete, 106 days since interviewed.

What's the general sense of this idea that the class is close to filled? I know it's now MARCH but I just don't have the sense that there's not at least one more wave waiting to happen.

Columbia doesn't seem to do "waves" in the same way that other top schools do. People seem to report acceptances here 2-4 days in a typical week

I don't think anyone knows, but I'll give an estimate. Since Columbia tends to admit ~1,200 and has ~350-400 matriculate annually (according to 509s from the last few years) and that the applicants who are less likely to matriculate due to other offers (scholarship elsewhere, etc.) have not decided yet, it's reasonably likely there are still more than a few people who will be admitted in the coming month or two even before they start looking at the wait list/reserve group. As someone else said, they don't seem to do "waves" as others do, so try not to worry too much and hopefully you'll find a pleasant surprise in your inbox soon.

Total lurker here - can others post if they get accepted post that super fun "hold" email and submitting an loci? I was held in that wave about a week ago and am curious if others are seeing movement.

In response to a previous question that I think wasn't answered, I submitted the LOCI to the same admissions email that held me. I'm also having a professor I've been speaking to this fall send a "fit" recommendation to the same email address

Thanks! They obviously thought it would be funny to make me wait until March, but cruel to make me wait 100+ days. Hence the decision today :)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
