So sorry :( . That's really rough. I'm guessing desperately hoping you didn't write Whys for any of those three, right? Certainly appears to be blatant YP.

i think penn is working on the assumption that their yield this year would be about 99.9%

lol'd IRL

For my part, I'm not reading too much into any of this because so much of it is absurd. I'm just glad that I wrote a Why Penn, and I hope my numbers are in that special zone that appears likely to matriculate.

I'm actually almost laughing hysterically thinking about how terrible my numbers are compared to those getting WL'd. I keep thinking they're going to have someone fly out to my house so they can shoot me in the head instead of just rejecting me.

Did not write Why X for UVA and Penn, did for Duke, but I think my Duke one was not very convincing so I'd count that as no as well. I do plan to write LOCI for all 3 either this weekend or next

I think all of you thinking that your numbers are terrible might be okay. It looks to me that with the new 169 median, Penn is looking for that special applicant whose numbers are good enough for Penn, but just shy of CCN numbers. If you're a 169, that makes NYU harder, so they may really be into a 169/median GPA this year.

Yeah, I'm joining the consensus view that most of tonight was YP, although some of the rejections make me pretty nervous.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a day full of acceptances. I doubt they want to go home for the weekend after two blood-soaked days.

Wow... not much to say about what's going on here. Maybe a new admissions strategy to get higher yield... WL everyone and then accept those that make an effort (send a LOCI)?
