Waitlisted today. Well above both medians. Have money offers from schools I would go to over UVA, so I will probably just withdraw my application. Good luck to all of you.

Just be prepared to answer why you want to attend UVA, and maybe think of one or two questions you want to ask. It's a very quick conversation.worthymocka wrote:Hey all--
Just got a note from an admissions dean asking me to call. Pretty sure I know what this means, but was wondering if anyone could link me to or PM me a rundown of what to expect from my conversation. I don't have a bunch of time to research and will be calling UVA during my lunch break.
Thanks!

Why UVA?
Any questions for him?
And in my case, after that he said that the admissions committee had given him the choice whether to admit me on the call if he so desired. He did. And then there was a bit about sending in FAFSA etc. and any other scholarship offers so that they could make second-round scholly offers in early April.
Hope that helps.
ETA: If it's helpful to those still waiting: 172/3.8 non-resident but went to a Virginia school for undergrad. Sent a LOCI a couple weeks ago.

That was the exact some convo I had, though I did get an added question of asking what I wanted the committee to most remember about me when considering my application (ie what makes me unique).

Re: UVA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Here's a quick question: If I were to submit a LOCI and be accepted shortly thereafter, what timeframe am I dealing with in order to make a decision? Per the UVA waitlist FAQ:Dmini7 wrote:I am not sure where but someone earlier in this thread sent in a loci after being wailtlisted and was admitted within that same week. I would assume with your numbers money will be thrown at you if you really showed interest in the school. You are over both 75ths, so they just assume you are going to HYSCCN with money. At least that is my opinion of the situation.MAHamlin wrote:Will being waitlisted effect my scholarship opportunities at UVA? The email implies I won't hear anything until May. Won't most scholarship dollars be spent by then?Dmini7 wrote:Obvious YP here. If you are actually interested send a Why essay/LOCI and start rolling in the dough. With that said, I am sure you have much more attractive offers on the table too.MAHamlin wrote:Just got the waitlisted email.
4.06/172
Submitted 12/8
Complete email 12/12
No Why? essay
"If I receive an offer of admission, how long will I have to decide? Not very long, out of consideration to the other applicants on the waitlist. We will telephone you if we have a space available for you, and you will be asked to make a commitment within a couple of days."
I'm still interested in UVA, and with money they are absolutely a contender. That doesn't, however, mean I am ready to make an immediate decision if accepted. I would hope I would still have the standard time until the first seat deposit is due in April.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Got waitlisted this morning. It's my fifth waitlist in a row after UCLA, Duke, Penn and Michigan. Thanking my lucky stars for my sole acceptance at Berk. 172/3.85, slightly confused about the whole thing, can't think I'd get 5 YP's in a row...

Err... I completely forgot about that question. So much for preparing you for that one. Sounds like it went well at least. Did you get the same info about scholarship awards/timing?CourtneyJoann wrote:

Re: UVA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I got in off the waitlist a few weeks ago after sending a LOCI, and (1) I wasn't asked any of the questions other folks were (I guess I covered it in the LOCI), and (2) I was not asked to make an immediate decision. I was sent the standard packet with the standard deadlines... so I guess that timeline only applies if you are admitted off the waitlist after the deposit deadline.MAHamlin wrote:Here's a quick question: If I were to submit a LOCI and be accepted shortly thereafter, what timeframe am I dealing with in order to make a decision? Yeah. He asked if I had any questions after telling me I was admitted, and I asked about scholarships. He gave me the same info he gave you about sending information regarding FAFSA and the such as well as the committee meeting for the 2nd round of scholarships soon.cslouisck wrote:Err... It is a weird cycle. Many folks with above medians are getting WL all over the place. Congrats on Berk!! I got dinged there but in at Duke, Michigan and UCLA.Omnivalc wrote:Got waitlisted this morning. It's my fifth waitlist in a row after UCLA, Duke, Penn and Michigan. Submitted and under review in November. I've heard nothing since. I sent in an LOCI around the end of January. 173/3.35... I even emailed the admissions office last week asking them if they wanted more information from me - no response. Anybody else in a similar place with their UVA app?

One can be hopeful. I was told to check back in early April for second round opportunities (I think this coincides with them knowing how full the class is/if a lot of people start declining admission offers?).North wrote:You holding onto hope that we EDers are going to get something, Shadow?shadowofjazz wrote:Please elaborate
Last semester was super busy for me, but I'm getting back into the swing of things. I'm trying to stay on top of work and school this semester and pepper in some side stuff (light reading through LSC, GTM, PLS, and working on some finance/investment and 1L job search related stuff).North wrote:Also, good to see you back dude.

Similar situation here. UR 11/19, sent in Why UVA essay late January. And I sent a LOCI lately, with no actual update but literally another version of Why UVA. Got a standard "thank you for your continued interest" reply the next morning. We'll see.ht2988 wrote:Submitted and under review in November. I've heard nothing since. Does anyone think it's possible that sending a belated "Why UVA"/LOCI might have gotten us bumped to the back of the review pile or something? Was reading the first post in this thread last night, and doesn't seem out of the question: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =2&t=27169

Admitted 5 hours after I sent in my LOCI. Idk if that was coincidental, or if they were going to admit me anyway on that day.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
