I really don't think it's purely dings. I'm 3/1 and 170/3.8X and I kissed Duke's butt extensively on my application.

I'm wondering what this means.
It means I've been passed over every wave of anything since mid-December, which I assume means no updates are simply automatic. Although at this rate, who knows, maybe my application is under a table somewhere gathering dust - in which case my theory would be wrong.
