I'd have to also remove any a&m sticker off my car...
No, actually, the law school parking lot here at Tech has a ton of cars and suvs with different stickers. All you have to do is add a Tech sticker, and you are good :) Plus, plenty of undergrads leave their community college parking stickers stickers up and such, too, so it's really no big deal unless you are screaming "Go UT!" or "Go A&M!" into a crowd or at the stadium in the students section. Tech students and Tech security don't like people who purposely go into the student section to do that. Last time I saw that happen the kid was escorted out, and the time before that, a food fight. But, realistically, most Tech students go to UT games wearing orange for safety reasons, and some professors here recommend it. So, stickers can stay, but maroon t-shirts, yeah, they need to go.

I recommend Tech Terrace (19th & Indiana) if you are looking for a house to rent close to the law school. It is very nice, and it is actually cheaper than a lot of the apartment complexes here :) You can literally walk to law school every day, and there is a nice flower shop, coffee shop (J&B), a park, and small grocery store nestled in the neighborhood where a green trolley comes around every 30 minutes or so. Very convenient.

This is just my experience but of any away games I've been to as an Aggie, the Tech fans have been the most aggressive. I would go ahead and take that sticker off because there will eventually be a night when someone walks by your car after having a few drinks.

Yeah, there is that....But it is a very pretty campus, much more visually appealing than A&M is.

I said the campus, not the town. Lubbock is a steaming cesspool of a "city."

ETA: By campus I meant the beautiful Spanish Renaissance buildings, which I'm sure we would all agree are much more visually appealing than, say, Rudder Tower, Zachry or the Glasscock Building.

txag10: Not to worry about your A&M sticker; there are many A&M and UT grads at the Law School with undergrad emblems on their cars. Also, the Law School is its own island from the rest of the campus, so you really don't have to worry about undergrad shenanigans.

Be sure to check out the Texas Aggie Bar Association.
Also, I really like Lubbock.

Ha, every time I hear some person say this it just makes me laugh. The campus, itself, is gorgeous. And Lubbock might not be breathtaking; however, it's still pretty nice. Much more so than a few places that hold campuses that I can think of off the top of my head.

Barring movement on the WUSTL WL or an admit at SMU, STCL is my final choice as of now.

My file is in review at U of H.
Unless that changes to admitted, STCL will be my #1 as well.

I've gotta say, the Tech architecture is better (ironically). The agency I work for just built a new building out here on west campus and it looks like a prison. Blocky, drab grey, small windows. It's just awful.

But for landscaping, trees, design, the views, and overall aesthetic, Texas A&M has got Tech beat, hands down.

As for STCL, I can't really speak to it - I need to get down there once or twice this summer to have a look around. It's downtown, on San Jacinto street, right? Not a notoriously scenic area. Is it one of those schools that's basically housed entirely in an office building, or is there a campus like at U of H? I guess I could just pull it up on street view...

It's an office building in downtown Houston. It shares with the 1st and 14th Courts of Appeal.

what is the diplomatic way to tell a school that you're not going to go there and that they can give your seat to someone else?

"Hey. You managed to drain me of $300. Kudos to you. Later, suckers."
or similar?

i don't think that it would be prudent for me to say, given that I just referred to them as suckers.

I received my acceptance email from UH on Friday. I will be withdrawing from STCL this week. I hope my seat deposit mailed to 77009 doesn't make it, or I am out $100, darn it! Good luck to all of y'all and see you around Houston.
