If it's a peer reviewed pub, I'd make a bigger deal of it than an updated resume. I'd send an updated resume, but explain in the e-mail you are updating due to your article having been accepted for publication in blah blah blah.Dignan wrote:academic journal

Stanford doesn't care about the love poem you somehow slipped into the local free newspaper. hthKronk wrote:I definitely shouldn't send a second LOCI without a decision even if I have a publication since the first, right? RIGHT!?

question about timing (sorry, nothing to add to the infamous debate): if my app went complete november, what's the timeline for a decision?

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
Eventually. Stanford takes its sweet time, which is fine, because it means they're really serious about making the right decisions. But it also means that some people wait for a really long time to hear answers. They have said that they expect to issue all decisions by 30 April. That you've been waiting so long at least indicates that you have a good shot of admission. Plenty of people from around your complete date have been rejected already.monique522 wrote:question about timing (sorry, nothing to add to the infamous debate): if my app went complete november 14th, what's the timeline for a decision? i haven't heard anything, except when i emailed them recently just to make sure they weren't missing anything from my application. i realllly want to get in, though i didn't send those personalized recs....

I hear a fair bit about East Coast firms vying for token Stanford grads.APimpNamedSlickback wrote:groundbreaking admission that will shake tls to its core:
i secretly applied to stanford and am still waiting to hear back. i fully expect them to reject my ttt gpa without so much as a second glance, but a call from palo alto could certainly make my life more complicated.
for someone interested in ny big law, does it to any extent make sense to consider the west coast king over harvard?

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I was curious about this. I would imagine if you are under the top third of your class or so... it might be better for you to be at SLS than HLS... simply because you add some geo. diversity. I am curious if NYC firms ask "why are you applying here? Don't you want to work in CA?"skynet wrote:I hear a fair bit about East Coast firms vying for token Stanford grads.APimpNamedSlickback wrote:groundbreaking admission that will shake tls to its core:

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I've heard the same from a family friend, who's a V10 partner. He said they loved SLS grads, and made great effort to hire them; seems to bear out in stats for OCI: 60+ firms from NYC come recruit, and only 10-15% of the class heads to NYC (20-30 students).skynet wrote:I hear a fair bit about East Coast firms vying for token Stanford grads.APimpNamedSlickback wrote:groundbreaking admission that will shake tls to its core:

Do calls go out generally in the mornings, or any time of the day?

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
You could send a 4th recommendation letter that is targeted to SLS. A friend of mine applied with 3 targeted letters and then, after a couple of months of no news, sent in a 4th letter (non-targeted) from a big wig in lieu of a LOCI. He was admitted a couple weeks later. Since you haven't gotten word in a few months and didn't send in any targeted letters, an additional targeted letter might be more valuable to you than an average SLS applicant.monique522 wrote:question about timing (sorry, nothing to add to the infamous debate): if my app went complete november 14th, what's the timeline for a decision? i haven't heard anything, except when i emailed them recently just to make sure they weren't missing anything from my application. i realllly want to get in, though i didn't send those personalized recs....

She called me at 8:15 A.M. on a Friday morning but then sent a follow-up email; don't worry if you don't pick up the phone.BioEBear2010 wrote:Morning fo'sho. She called me at 7:30 P.M. There was at least one other person on TLS who reported getting a call from (650), but the majority have been "Unknown" or "Private" number or whatever.BioEBear2010 wrote:Did she call everyone from an unknown #? She called me from a 650 number...
