Been dreading one all week, but nothing so far (and I live in NYC, so I figure mail would come quickly?). Only interviewed last week though, so maybe the executioner's just grinding their axe...

I am considering putting in my LOCI that although I have been accepted at uPenn and uChicago with $$, I would without a doubt attend Columbia for reasons A, B, and C. If by the grace of God I then get accepted, can I still try to play the "compare scholly" game, or is that hypocritical?
Also, is this LOCI supposed to be submitted on the CLS website or via email? The "hold" email didn't give any instructions...
Thanks

There's no reason for you to make a huge bold statement about how you would undoubtedly attend Columbia if admitted. You can definitely show strong interest and enthusiasm without doing that. But, even if you did do that and you're subsequently admitted, you should not think twice about negotiating. You would have nothing to lose and everything to gain--they aren't going rescind your acceptance because you tried to negotiate.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

curious about this too - little different situation but i had an interview about a month ago and haven't heard anything since. is it too soon / pushy to send a LOCI in this situation?
If you haven't heard anything from Columbia, I guess your situation would be more similar to those placed on Hold than to those placed on Reserve (in the respect that your file will get continual review until the class is full). The difference is those placed Hold got an email letting them know that they can submit a LOCI, and you didn't. This difference may speak to adcom's mind that they don't need a LOCI from you to make a decision--at least for now. Of course, it's my mere speculation, so take it with a gain of salt.

Anyone made any progress in making a decision between Columbia, Chicago, and NYU? I'm not going to be able to make ASW and I'm really just desperate for any insight at this point!

Most of the people on this thread now (still) haven't heard back -- it seems that most admitted students have moved on to the Class of 2019 thread here: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&start=75. Not trying to speak for everyone else ITT or say that we refuse to help you, but you might find people better suited to do so there.

Ask fellow accepted applicants, not those still waiting on a decision.

Basically. It's a little rude to ask folks who aspire to get admitted to Columbia to help you decide whether or not to take your Columbia offer. You'll get a much better response in the "Choosing a Law School" thread.

As a New Yorker, I'm going to go ahead and opt for you to go to Chicago. We don't want you here.

Look, people who are still waiting to hear back from Columbia check this thread for news. I don't like getting notifications and then seeing that it's just someone like you who should be posting in the admitted students thread.

I absolutely agree. I'm waiting for news, but given how difficult to predict Columbia's process has been this year, plus the fact that we've already gotten through the major initial accept and reject waves, new information in this thread is unlikely to actually tell you much about your own decision. People can get so unnecessarily belligerent in these threads.

Reserve list today via email. They didn't spell my name right in the letter or the email. Such prestige. Such game. Very much on point. =_=

I sincerely apologize if this has been asked before (I tried to find the answer to my question but somehow probably missed it somewhere), what are the chances of being admitted after getting a reserve? Just got the email today.

It's been asked, but I don't think anyone has actually run the numbers lately. Based on what I remember from previous threads, there's a fairly large wave right when they start looking at the apps again, so plenty of people do get in off of it. I think last years thread have some actual percentages, but it'l take some digging.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
