Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Any held people thinking about what to write for these essays? The first one is driving me insane. Like how do we write about changing a policy without being political? Or do they want us to be a little political?

Yea I'm sure it's one of those things where it's not what you say, but how you say it. They just want to see how you logically write your way through taking a position on something. Aka what the LSAT writing section tests. LOLGray wrote:Outting myself to Johann but I wrote about improving mental health care within the correctional system? IDK if that helps. Pretty lib thing to say though, I guess.mickey_mouse wrote:Any held people thinking about what to write for these essays? The first one is driving me insane. Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
just venting a little frustration with NU. i'm one of those strong numerical applicants (around or above 75ths) on hold. called last Wednesday (they said they set aside Wednesdays from 11-4 to addressing calls from students on hold), got almost nothing in terms of helpful answers or even much time on the phone.
trying pretty damn hard to convince them i want to attend. wondering if they want to be convinced at all at this point.

Just got scholarship info. Very generous. Assuming most of it was need-based, since I was surely a borderline admit. Quick turnaround (~10d from NA/FAFSA).

Looking into getting another LOR sent due to being held. FAQ says, "All new information should be submitted electronically as an email attachment," but does anybody know whether there is a special protocol akin to the verification recommenders go through when submitting through LSAC?

Yeah, via email.
I'm an AJD so that's probably why I'm getting a quick turnaround. It's an April 1 deadline for matric/scholarship.

No regular JD decisions this week.... yet
I feel like NU is behind other schools in terms of releasing decisions.

When you take into account all those "held" applications and the change in number of weeks in which a decision will be rendered, their process is even more frustrating.ChemEng1642 wrote:+100ek5dn wrote:+1lawstudent2018 wrote:No regular JD decisions this week.... yet

Is Johann the head of admissions or just the face guy? Isn't there a Dean (Director?) above him? Unclear on their admissions office organizational structure.

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Yeah, I got confused by this too. This came in a recent email:WhatCouldHaveBeen wrote:Is Johann the head of admissions or just the face guy? Isn't there a Dean (Director?) above him? Unclear on their admissions office organizational structure.
Don Rebstock, Associate Dean of Enrollment, Career Strategy, and Marketing
Johann Lee, Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
Emily Osborn, Director of Financial Aid, Chicago Campus
Emily Render, Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid
So, I guess Mr. Rebstock is in charge of the entire enrollment management structure (recruiting, advertising, admissions, financial aid, yield, experience, career placement, etc), and Johann is primarily in charge of the admissions piece of that puzzle.

Kind of crazy to think I'll be moving to Chicago in 6 months. It's finally starting to sink in.

At least it's in 6 months instead of now. It looks like a snownado outside my office window.Dog wrote:Kind of crazy to think I'll be moving to Chicago in 6 months. It's finally starting to sink in.
