Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Adcomms certainly do read TLS - many users have posted about someone at their school (in admin, I mean) talking to them about their TLS posting. I can't say whether tlstemp is one of them, but applicants should be aware that adcomms can and do read here. I'd imagine if nothing else, they certainly read the threads dedicated to their schools.

He pmed me all of his scores earlier this year. I think he was being genuine, I just don't care to out him. It'd be a shame for anyone to lose their spot at HLS over immature posting in an online forum. I say plenty of stupid stuff here that I absolutely do not believe. I wouldn't want it held avainst me.psychmusic wrote:I think part of seoulless's long con on these boards is to post different LSATs/other stats so he is harder to identify and he can continue saying whatever he wants

Now that I think about it, he PM'd me his personal statement(s). I doubt he's been that careful. He's actually a really interesting guy (if the personal statements are anything to go on). He's just made some bad judgments recently.LSATneurotic wrote:He pmed me all of his scores earlier this year. I think he was being genuine, I just don't care to out him. I hate to sound like a broken record, but are there any interview slots opened?

don't worry bro your post history will actually be a positive for your hls app, not a negative.Seoulless wrote:It should seem funny to you. on another note, tlstemp's talking about seouless, right? Something seems funny to me about someone at Harvard seeing a comment on a message board and going through the files/board history to try and dox them.

So if no response today, there won't be JS1 until 1/5?

It's not uncommon for admissions offices to be open for part of the 24th, though I wouldn't count on anything.bleachth wrote:So if no response today, there won't be JS1 until 1/5?

The J.D. Admissions Office will be closed from Dec. 24 – Jan. 5 for winter break. If you have any questions, call or email before Tuesday!

I know for a fact that JS knew the identities of certain megaposters last cycle. I don't know of anyone who had an offer rescinded because of their posts, but maybe you can be the first (although I'd much rather you end up at Harvard than at Stanford-sorry HLS friends).Seoulless wrote:It should seem funny to you. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
"For a fact"?
I'm not concerned personally, but I am curious.
To not get HLS because of a single dumb post would be akin to Robert Kipkoech's 2006 Chicago Marathon finish, except he won. Go him!
Also, I apologize to anyone who asked for my JS1 stats and didn't get a response. I quickly realized that I was part of a very small wave and that any stats were likely individually identifying. Also, if I worked in an admissions office, I'd be kind of curious to watch and see what kind of stirrs erupt every JS-wave. I don't think it's farfetched to believe that one of the common pm-requestors is a diligent and quick-witted adcom with a spreadsheet. With Harvard app data and TLS data, I honestly believe that more than 50% of the JS1s could be uniquely identified with the right algorithm (assuming people are honest, which is an issue).
However, I don't think that H would care at all, unless you say things that have the potential to hinder your career (e.g. comments about particular races, ethnicities or countries that could be held against you if you seek higher office). If you're willing to say it here, then there's a non-negligible chance that you'd be willing say it in person, which could be held against you for much of your career / put you in the political penalty box.
However, I consider posting here in general to be akin to joining professional networks and organizations later in life. I can imagine that H, in general, would encourage that kind of behavior!

You're taking this way too seriously. I highly doubt any adcomm is posing as a fellow applicant and is PMing users with 19 posts to try to find out who they are.butSeriously wrote:"For a fact"?

My point is that Seoulless is an obnoxious and (apparently) racist poster, and with as many posts as he has, there's a decent chance JS (or any other adcomm, though I think HLS and WUSTL-maybe YLS?-are the only schools where adcomms have definitely linked TLS users to applicants) could figure out who he is.
Given how many megaposters were admitted to HLS last cycle, merely being on TLS clearly doesn't hurt your admissions chances much, if at all.

I think Vandy and UIUC, too (though possibly only after matriculation).koalacity wrote:My point is that Seoulless is an obnoxious and (apparently) racist poster, and with as many posts as he has, there's a decent chance JS (or any other adcomm, though I think HLS and WUSTL-maybe YLS?-are the only schools where adcomms have definitely linked TLS users to applicants) could figure out who he is.
In any case, apart from the useful reminder that what you post here isn't necessarily anonymous just because it's not under your real name, this is getting a bit far afield from the topic of the thread.

What % of JS1s do we think have gone out? My impression has been that there has been less activity this cycle than last on that front (obviously acceptances follow that trend).

I don't think there's any way to know the total number of people that are interviewed in a given cycle. jS once said that 1,200 is the target, but who knows if they adhere to that goal?Kobaine51 wrote:What % of JS1s do we think have gone out? Word probably true +/- 5% but I think it's safe to use 1200 as the denominator. More looking for the top part of that fraction.LSATneurotic wrote: I don't think there's any way to know the total number of people that are interviewed in a given cycle. jS once said that 1,200 is the target, but who knows if they adhere to that goal?
