Waitlisted today..i am sooo surpised..i was expecting a flat out rejection..i think being in state helped out with that..but anyway..since i doubt they will be pulling off of the waitlist before my w&l deposit is due i won't be counting on getting off...also waitlisted at GW

The real UVA cycle begins after you've been waitlisted. Do you want it badly enough to ED? Are you going to roll the dice and hope you're one of the few taken off the WL?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed earlier in the thread, but does that mean that UVA waitlist is kind of more... of a hopeful thing than other schools' waitlists? Or at least more influenced by LOCI/ EDing?

No, not necessarily more of a hopeful thing. UVA might pull more from the WL, but there are also lots of people on the waitlist. But if you want to get in, you should vigorously pursue it through LOCI and (if you want to go that far) ED.

I'm waiting on 13 other schools, so I guess I'll go the LOCI route since I obviously am not going to ED... I wish I had gotten waitlisted a little bit later after getting a few decisions from other schools.

I know this sounds stupid but mustered my guts to ask here....I submitted my app late Nov. and then I never heard ANYTHING from them, not even an acknowledgement of receiving my app...Is that normal or should I contact them?

You can ED after being put on RD WL. Huge boost to your chances, although lose a lot of aid leverage.

I had the exact same thing happen. They emailed me a status checker on November 21, but I never. got. it. So I emailed them a few weeks ago, very tentatively asking if they had sent me something and I'd missed it, or if I had forgotten something. They emailed back like 5 minutes later with a status checker link and an apology that I didn't get it the first time.

Then they WL'd me. Jerks.
