Sorry to hear that, but congrats on NU!! UVA is still keeping me in limbo, wish they'd just get all these decisions out and over with!franklyscarlet wrote:Yep!JustE wrote:It is! No, not necessarily more of a hopeful thing. UVA might pull more from the WL, but there are also lots of people on the waitlist. But if you want to get in, you should vigorously pursue it through LOCI and (if you want to go that far) ED.gravityrides0 wrote:soj wrote: The real UVA cycle begins after you've been waitlisted. I'm sorry if this has been discussed earlier in the thread, but does that mean that UVA waitlist is kind of more... of a hopeful thing than other schools' waitlists? Or at least more influenced by LOCI/ EDing?
I'm waiting on 13 other schools, so I guess I'll go the LOCI route since I obviously am not going to ED... I wish I had gotten waitlisted a little bit later after getting a few decisions from other schools.soj wrote:No, not necessarily more of a hopeful thing. Sorry! But it just means you're one step closer to committing to NU, right?franklyscarlet wrote:Dingdingdingdingding! And UVA gets my ding virginity. I ain't even mad. This is still the best of days.

To withdraw my other pending applications, do I just email the admissions offices? Or do I have to do something on LSAC?

You should definitely have received a status checker by now. Contact them.poultry wrote:I know this sounds stupid but mustered my guts to ask here....I submitted my app late Nov. and then I never heard ANYTHING from them, not even an acknowledgement of receiving my app...Is that normal or should I contact them?
Don't worry, it'll turn around! My first two decisions were waitlists and I started to think maybe I screwed up my personal statement or something, but then the acceptances slowly trickled in!gravityrides0 wrote:aw... waitlisted.
my very first decision of the cycle.
sigh

Are you saying I can "ED" after having been put on the WL with RD?
So I can just e-mail them and say "Hey could you please make me ED (i.e. give me an answer in the next 15 days, and if you accept me, I'm there)?"
You can ED after being put on RD WL. Huge boost to your chances, although lose a lot of aid leverage.Supremo Skelator wrote:gravityrides0 wrote:soj wrote: The real UVA cycle begins after you've been waitlisted. I had the exact same thing happen. They emailed me a status checker on November 21, but I never. got. it. So I emailed them a few weeks ago, very tentatively asking if they had sent me something and I'd missed it, or if I had forgotten something. They emailed back like 5 minutes later with a status checker link and an apology that I didn't get it the first time.poultry wrote:I know this sounds stupid but mustered my guts to ask here....I submitted my app late Nov. and then I never heard ANYTHING from them, not even an acknowledgement of receiving my app...Is that normal or should I contact them?
retake and EDSupremo Skelator wrote:Let's just say (hypothetically) that I have an OOS friend with a GPA well below the bottom 25%, an LSAT just below the 25%, and softs good enough to to prevent him from being an auto-reject.
If he is waitlisted, does he really stand any chance?
Is ED his only hope at UVA?
Now there's a charge.
