Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
So I visited BC this weekend at the open house and we had the opportunity to speak with the Financial aid officers there. I expressed that I had not recieved my package yet but when I returned I found that they had posted it over the weekend. Well as a result of that talk with them they actually contacted me today to offer me $6k more per year! I hadnt seriously considered BC before this visit, but my general impression was that they were a very tight-knit community with a strong support system where the students are not cut throat. The students were friendly and after speaking with them it was obvious why many of them turned down offers at higher ranked schools (even offers off the waitlists at T14 schools) to attend BC. The faculty was very honest with the numerous questions we asked and regarding employment and they really took the time to provide us with the information we would need to make an informed decision. I really encourage everyone who is interested in BC to visit and to express your strong interest in order to secure more $$. HTH!

Has anyone noticed that BC doesn't require undergrads to send in their final transcripts? It's not on the website or in the letter...

I got the acceptance email about an hour ago!.. I was expecting a WL/Ding because I hadn't heard anything since my status changed to DR on 3/21. Definitely a great surprise!

Just got the admit email too. Dean Jones' message sure was intense with that intriguing intro/outro music!

Decision rendered today...no e-mail. Is that a ding?
ETA: Nevermind - seems that yes, it's likely I got dinged, though I see someone upthread got an acceptance e-mail two days later. But with my numbers, I don't expect any such luck.

I was in the same boat as you! I got my e-mail a couple weeks ago. It took every ounce of my will power to not start jumping up and down at my desk at work.ls24 wrote:I got the acceptance email about an hour ago!.. Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get some advice!
I e-mailed BC late last week about a possible scholarship increase. They responded that they will consider it, but haven't posted any awards.
Basically, I want to call them and see if they will match (or come closer to) my award from Loyola Law School. How much time do you think I should give it before I call them, without coming off as nagging? I was thinking about calling them tomorrow (one week after my initial e-mail), does this seem reasonable?
Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
I actually e-mailed them a few days ago about a scholarship increase as well but haven't received any type of response whatsoever. I was planning to wait a week myself and call. I was going to say since seat deposits are due soon that I need to figure out my situation. So yes if I were you I would either call tomorrow or Monday.jamiLAW wrote:Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get some advice!

I was just getting ready to call the admissions office to follow up on my request for a scholarship increase, when I thought it might be a good idea to check Agora first. I did check, and they had posted an additional $3000/semester! I'm so excited right now, I'll see you all at Boston College in August!

Quick question guys. I remember seeing something about being able to tell if you were admitted or denied based on the status checker.
Are you able to tell if something, or nothing comes up under mailings, or if you aren't e-mailed right away after "Decision Rendered"?

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
Wow. I emailed BC about my Penn acceptance and Vandy scholarship because I hadn't received a scholarship offer. They replied that I was not being offered any scholarship money at all. Very surprised that a 3.5/172 gets nothing for me from BC.
Edit: also, I first emailed them about two weeks ago and had to work extremely hard just to get that response from them. Furthermore, the response was incredibly cold and impersonal, unlike the page long response from Northwestern, phone call from Georgetown, and request for a face-to-face from Penn admissions folks. For all I'd heard about how much Boston College cares about its students and creating close contact and all that bullshit, I found it shocking. I had to practically beg for them to send me a three sentence scholarship denial email that wasn't even personally signed. Fuck that.
Withdrawal.
Second edit: sorry if I come across douchey. I'm just disappointed that it seems like I was treated oddly and am frustrated.

I submitted my application in December and still haven't heard back. My last update was 1/20. Did they lose my application? Should I call them?

I know this was answered somewhere earlier in the thread, but I can't seem to find it. Where do you get your Agora number and password? Does it come through an e-mail after your accepted? Thanks in advance for the Response.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
