I'm now, especially in the emotion of the scholarship aftermath, leaning towards W and L. I still have a few schools to wait on, and a few more possible scholarships at current admits to consider, but this is pretty big. My only worry is that the community and school will be too conservative for my liking. I do love everything else about the school.

I'm a 1L at W&L now, and I can assure you it's not that conservative. I'm a libertarian, and found that most of those who consider themselves Republicans or conservatives are more in line with my views than the moral majority types. I can't think of too many I'd consider socially conservative. There are also plenty of very liberal students. The undergrad's conservative reputation doesn't really apply to the law school.

this is what i meant.... most "conservative" law students are usually more libertarian in thought than social conservatives... not that those don't exist.

That's somewhat reassuring. I'm more like a Noam Chomsky libertarian (European definition of libertarian), in that I'm for radical individualism and radical egalitarianism, though I guess I can't really call myself an anarchist and go to law school . Because I'm lgbT (T capitalized on purpose), American libertarians will still be tolerant and supportive of individual expression, so that's good. The moral majority conservatives are definitely the ones I'm worried about. I was also worried about the atmosphere of the area, with VMI being right next door, but then again I'm guessing the law students don't really just randomly fraternize with any and everybody.

I'm starting to think this will be the school, and I'm hoping to make the April 2-3 ASD. By then, I should have all my points of data for comparison, and be ready to possibly throw down the $750.

Haven't committed, but W&L will most likely be where I end up. Will be at the March/April Open House. I'm just waiting on one more school to get back to me, but W&L seems to be it. FYI, I'm Independent.

While I'm posting on here--has anyone who went DR on 2/12 heard anything about scholarship info? I'm not really expecting anything, but I would certainly appreciate it!

You didn't retake your LSAT in February, did you? I've heard of people's statuses changing with the receipt of the updated score.

I am set on W&L for next year and I am a slightly left leaning moderate. As mentioned elsewhere I think the undergrad population is a lot more conservative than the law school, and for the most part I doubt we have a huge amount of interaction with them.

"Itsabouttime": I think statuschecker is talking about the class of 2013 group for people that are sure or almost sure. If you type in "washington and lee law 2013" it should come up, only has about eight members so far.

Nope. Been waiting since 11/13 - sort of odd it's taking so long, but I'm hoping this means I'll receive a decision sometime this week.

Thanks, you too! I'm getting impatient too haha. Maybe your status will change this week as well and we'll both get decisions. They can't wait TOO much longer at this point.

Awesome! I can't wait to visit! I really think this is the place for me. The location is possibly the best in the T1, at least as far as I'm concerned (with only Cornell and W and M being comparable). I love small towns, outdoor recreation, and collaborative environments, and this comment just adds the last piece of the puzzle: a progressive student body.

Right after I applied, I started reading the threads and people we boasting about 12 day turnarounds. I guess that's not the case for everyone...
