i'm assuming it would up to the point that you already have the stats that davis would want to replace all the numbers that withdraw. to at least maintain/higher one of the two medians. visiting will definitely give davis the impression you are interested and may select you above other waitlisters with similar stats since they will feel like you would accept.
but i doubt it helps too much overall.

This thread is making me want to submit a pre-decision LOCI...
I would LOVE a decision tonight so I can go into the April 15th deadline knowing what to do.

Do these need to be a formal letter, or could it be like the e-mail we were talking about a couple pages back?

So we've established those are real? If true, wowzers. Last years jump was big for Davis, this one is huge.

At the recent Davis ASD, some faculty were calling Davis a top 20-25 LS. Wishful thinking, but the bottom line is that I got the strong sense the school is very focused on raising its rank, even if that means pandering to the US News methodology I'd imagine. Hope the job prospects follow...

they were not referring to the US news ranking, but to to another ranking system. it is on their website

They did not specify. The obvious conclusion is that they were referring to the most prominent ranking system (i.e. US News), not some of the more obscure methodologies out there.

How is it possible for Davis to have 25% more employed at graduation than Hastings? Okay, Hastings is bigger and it's hard to place that many students - I get that. But when everybody generally agrees that Hastings and Davis have identical job prospects, and given Davis' generally weaker location, isn't there something fishy about that?

My only guess woud be the competition in the bay area. Sac market is a little easier to break into.

That'd be my guess as well. There's probably at least a couple more folks at Davis than Hastings who'd be able to live with a legal-aid job in Modoc County or get a job as an assistant junior half-deputy city attorney in Vacaville.

That may be a reasonable explanation but it also provides more reason to not attend Davis.

For all the naysayers, the UC Davis Law Twitter feed just said "Great news is coming.

". Perhaps they've gotten wind of the official rankings?

Does the Davis' "new ranking" change anyones mind about attending? Btw, how often are these rankings updated?

Every April
I chose Davis before the ratings came out, but it is nice icing on the top.
