Much appreciated But all I really want is a Columbia acceptance!! Their latest wave killed me. I should stop bumping this thread though, sorry folks.

Had to chime in b/c i'm also beyond anxiously waiting for Columbia and our usernames are reversed trying to find distracting ways to pass time and hope for the best - this past week almost killed me though. Did you interview for CLS by any chance? I did on the 11th and was told i'd hear within two weeks hence my exacerbated anxiety. Good luck to everyone!

I saw one last year with good numbers and an interview that got dinged around this time. I think generally the answer is no but I guess if multiple faculty reject you and/or your interviewer really hates you they'll just ding you asap

At the end of the day they're just numbers! My softs are nothing extraordinary. I interviewed some time ago at this point (12/19) and I think others who have interviewed after have already heard back, and just on top of that, I'm not really one for overconfidence a lot of things can go wrong, always.

Based on the way law schools report to the ABA, isn't everything above the 75th percentile the same for their stats?

If I'm a HLS admin, and my LSAT range is 170/173/175, aren't 175-180 effectively the same score? They don't change my reporting. And in practical terms, the 175 and 180 are both capable of earning their JD and passing the bar.

Don't get too nervous! My interview experience was friendly and nonintimidating.

Be prepared to answer questions about your resume, articulate your specific interests in law, and answer open-ended questions about yourself (as you would in a job interview). You will be given the opportunity to ask your own questions at the end, so it's a good idea to develop a few beforehand if you haven't already.

Most importantly: be yourself! It sounds cliche, but they're looking for a personal je ne sais quoi that will not at all be conveyed with canned-sounding, overly-rehearsed answers.

+1. We're all nervous and stressed and neurotic here. Numbers aren't a guarantee of anything, but zhyunjc: if it helps, I'm confident you'll do great this cycle with lots of amazing options and scholarship money!

Also, I haven't seen JS1s get dinged in the first rejection wave based on casual skimming from previous years, but I could have missed some posts and be wrong about this.

Anyway, hls c/o2018 here. When I applied, I applied with good stats--3.9/176. Applied real early in October, had my js1 in mid November and was passed again and again for js2 until I think it was early February when a huge wave came in.

I know waiting is a terrible game, I was so nervous and terrified when js2 eluded me a few times. but it's still quite early in the cycle (they haven't even stopped accepting applications yet!) and there isn't anyone here who doesn't deserve js2 who already received js1. good luck y'all!

I'm a 2L at HLS (not that that matters) and have discussed this once before with a few other students here. My sense is the same as yours. I do know that Yale, for example, posts on their site the range (including the min and max lsat), but as long as you get one person with 180, the rest between 175 and 180 (or 176 and 180 if we're talking about the peak days of law school applications) really wouldn't matter.

Perhaps there's some other non-ABA context where it might matter, but I can't really think of any, and for that reason I suspect the advantage of 3.7/179 over 3.7/175 is miniscule, and perhaps even non-existent. Idk if there's a large enough sample size on law school numbers to tell whether this is true.

interesting to see those who made an account couple of days ago along with lurkers with handful of posts to their name proving the herd mentality here. the poster who who curious about the query is probably wise enough to have consulted the LSN, which would have showed him his odds which are 100%. not being overconfident is one thing, but beating a dead horse about your chances when they know they're a lock is another, esp as most of the people on the forum will not be lucky enough to get in and are in a much worse position than him. i'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt assuming that he didn't know lsn or may be he was trying to disprove math by enhancing his chances even more, idk, but i'd hazard a guess that it's likely not true. in any case, it likely doesn't matter.
