To put a huge damper on that though, if I didn't get the Hamilton offer with my acceptance, that means I didn't get it at all, correct?
Pls take me. I love morningside heights.
I also knew someone last year who had a 178 and a 3.9x from and ivy who got into Columbia off the waitlist (the highest ranked school he got into). Granted I didn't see his full application, but that was a huge wave of pessimism for me.
Your friend with 178 and 3.9 -- did he/she get into Harvard or Chicago or other top schools?

Nah. Columbia was the highest rank school he got into. Columbia and Chicago are equally ranked no?hellohalo wrote:wheathins wrote:VapidP wrote:I think I screwed up the interview is what I'm saying. With those kind of numbers, I can't help but think he had some fatal flaw in his application or his history that Columbia was willing to overlook to not get accepted to HYS. wtf.

Congratulations!warmcherrysoda wrote:In with Hamilton February 1st. I think I'm on the low side for a Hamilton: 3.8/175. I'd attribute it to good professor recommendations, the interview went well and I have a named post-grad fellowship. Willing to field questions

He also got into NYU within a month of submitting the application, so you'd think with that quick of a timeline the flaw wouldn't be that fatal.Instrumental wrote:With those kind of numbers, I can't help but think he had some fatal flaw in his application or his history that Columbia was willing to overlook to not get accepted to HYS. wtf.
Anyways, yeah that anecdote just really shook me.

TBH I went into the Columbia interview a bit less prepared than my others. I would not be surprised if mypleasesendhelp wrote:I've read on TLS somewhere that it's low key based on whether that student is likely to get into HYS. I don't think it's THAT simple especially since Whittie was above both 75ths. The interview may be why. Interviews are for borderline admit/reject applicants and for students eligible for the named scholly (also from anecdotal evidence on TLS)wheathins wrote:Wow above both 75ths and no scholly? May they ran out?Whittie wrote:In this morning via email. Above both 75ths but no named-scholarship offer. I think my interview was good, but my Why Columbia? response was meh. They probably know I don't want to go there.
I don't get what the criteria are for Hamilton/Butler. They say it's mostly based on LSAT score but...
lack of enthusiasm about the school was apparent to the interviewer. Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear!

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
173 isn't high enough for a Hamilton/Butler, even if your GPA is at their 75th?wheathins wrote:If you're 173/3.8x and get an interview request, that means you're a borderline candidate, right?
Since 173 isn't high enough to qualify for Hamilton/Butler and interviews are for 1) Borderline candidate 2) Scholarship candidates
Does this mean like...there's something seriously wrong with my app??

This person in lSN has the exact same numbers as me and same paralegal experience, and it looks like we're having similar cycles...she got an interview at Columbia in November whereas I've had nothing....interesting...median GPA and 25-50LSAT

There were 3 Hammies at 173 on LSN last year. Seems like Columbia is doing more interviews than normal this year so I'm not sure the scholly/borderline thing holds.brinicolec wrote:173 isn't high enough for a Hamilton/Butler, even if your GPA is at their 75th?wheathins wrote:If you're 173/3.8x and get an interview request, that means you're a borderline candidate, right?

On My Columbia account it says Admitted student webpage and when I click on it, it gives me a bunch of classes that I might be interested in. I am a little confused about this, can anyone clarify this for me
