I said end of July. I probably wouldn't bail for sticker, though.vipertipper wrote:When ya'll say you're going to ride, how long? Are all of you willing to join a week before classes? two weeks?Loveofg wrote:Same here.BirdLawExpert wrote:Same here.FromMars wrote:Hold to summer waitlist. Riding

Yes. I was initially waitlisted late in the cycle and they sent me the email yesterday.calgoldenbear wrote:Can you explain? Were you put on the waitlist initially and now bumped over to a "summer waitlist"?lawlawloveme wrote:Waitlist to Summer Waitlist.

From the Summer Waitlist FAQ (which replaced the Hold FAQ)Archibald wrote:Also on summer wait list. Anyone know the chances of getting in with any $?
Does being placed on the summer waitlist impact my ability to receive a scholarship?
At Northwestern Law, all grants and scholarships are determined based on a combination of merit and need-based factors and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. At this point of the year, all scholarship funding has been allocated and it is unlikely that additional funds will become available; however, our Financial Aid Office can compile a loan profile package for you if you are admitted.

If on the waitlist, is it okay to call to ask about the prospects of getting in? Or does this annoy them?

Didn't they list that on the decision letter? I only read it once a few days ago but I remember something about 20-25% typically being the portion of the waitlist that received offers.calgoldenbear wrote:If on the waitlist, is it okay to call to ask about the prospects of getting in? Yeah, they said that's what they average on admits off the waitlist, but I guess I meant asking for a better sense of whether they are seeing/expecting any movement at all or what portion of that percentage they've already admitted. I keep hearing that there was a rise in applications this year, so chances of admission are lower across schools. Looking at last year's NU thread, admitted waitlisters had heard back by now and July barely had any movement. I'm just getting very antsy.BirdLawExpert wrote:Didn't they list that on the decision letter? I've heard this at multiple schools as well. Including that the quality of applicants was on the rise at each school making it more and more difficult to gain admittance the higher you go up the rankings. Appears more of the "smart undergrads" are opting to law school again. And that IB is taking the brunt of that hit. Obviously tech is leading the way.calgoldenbear wrote:Yeah, they said that's what they average on admits off the waitlist, but I guess I meant asking for a better sense of whether they are seeing/expecting any movement at all or what portion of that percentage they've already admitted. What is IB? By "smart undergrads" do you mean those applying to attend straight out of college? I imagine (and hope) that the "smart undergrad" applicants would have less of an impact at NU given that they prefer applications with work experience.LawSoHard04 wrote:I've heard this at multiple schools as well. IB is "Investment Banking" and I mean "smart undergrads" who choose traditionally lucrative fields of banking/accounting/consulting, law, medicine and engineering/tech. NU is definitely the poster child for valuing work experience.calgoldenbear wrote:What is IB? By "smart undergrads" do you mean those applying to attend straight out of college? Does anyone know if there has been a "wave" of waitlist admits at all since the spring? I've only seen maybe one or two people get in randomly.

Will NU eventually reject/release people from the waitlist? Or do you just end up waiting forever and by the time classes start you can be certain that you won't be getting in?

There is only another month and a half. Yeah they will eventually take you off, but it may be the first week of classes.calgoldenbear wrote:Will NU eventually reject/release people from the waitlist?
