I'll be incredulous if I miss this wave altogether. Although if it's only WL/dings then I guess I'm hoping to miss it...

Thoughts on what it means if you were in the wave of UR2's last week but don't have any update on status check?

Thanks guys - deciding between Penn and UVA and just trying to see who gives me the best outlook post-graduation. Not set on working in the south, but wanted to get a sense in case I wanted to. That being said - anyone else deciding between Penn and UVA that has any advice?tflan19 wrote:I don't think this opinion is very well informed. DC is a tough market to crack but coming from Penn you should have a good shot. If you're interested in working in a firm, going to the hill beforehand is not going to be helpful. Plenty of DC employers will be at the on campus interviews prior to 2L year and you can mass mail the rest of the DC firms you're interested in. That being said, from all of the reading I've done and schools and employers I've spoken with, DC is doable but difficult.manuelsig wrote:DC is basically a revolving door, so coming from a T14 you probably won't have too many problems - you might need to spend some time on the Hill to get a foot in the door. Atlanta will be more difficult, given it's fed by Emory and UGA. Regardless, I assume that any firm would look twice at an applicant from an Ivy. Whatever you do, lean heavy on the local alumni network.egp005 wrote:Anyone know what the prospect of getting a job in the southern legal market with a Penn degree is? Or is it relatively impossible to get a job in Atlanta/DC with a Penn degree?
As far as Atlanta, UGA and Emory are not going to be major competition for someone coming from Penn, with the caveat that you have some compelling ties or reason to want to work in Atlanta. You'll need to convince firms that you're actually interested in working and staying in ATL long term.
disclaimer: I'm a 0L but really interested in southern markets and DC

I am also deciding between Penn and UVA, but unfortunately I do not have any advice. They're both great schools, and I think if you hit around median (or of course better) at either of the schools, the job search should not be too difficult. They both have awesome career resources and when I visited, none of the students I met at either school were afraid about getting jobs. I think ultimately I will let the scholarship offers decide for me. Still waiting to hear about Penn's merit based offer.egp005 wrote:Thanks guys - deciding between Penn and UVA and just trying to see who gives me the best outlook post-graduation. Still considering a few others as well, but I'm mostly between Penn and UVA. Of late, the strength of UVA's clerkship placement is making me think that I may want some flexibility with my future plans. Penn seems to be very very focused on biglaw, which is great, but the more I think about it a clerkship seems like a good gig.hl1917 wrote:I am also deciding between Penn and UVA, but unfortunately I do not have any advice. Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
To all the wait-listed people from a member of Penn c/o 2017...
1) there is hope, I got in off of the WL and I'm doing well here.
2) if you are struggling with topics for "Why Penn?" we do have something pretty unique besides cheese-steaks. http://www.regblog.com is a great opportunity to write legal news on administrative law issues as a student. Student work is published alongside professors and government officials. We're on Facebook and Twitter as well, so please like and follow to show your interest. Who knows, it could be the difference the admissions committee is looking for...

UR2 Today. How long has the turn around from UR2 to a decision generally been?

Anyone know if there's any sort of deadline for initial decisions, particularly acceptances? LSN doesn't show much else besides waitlists and dings this time last year. I applied mid-jan.

I don't know if there's a deadline, but I just got the call this afternoon while I was at work. I applied early February.bezmialem wrote:Anyone know if there's any sort of deadline for initial decisions, particularly acceptances?
