Anyone have any wisdom re: emailing them and letting them know I have a 4/20 scholarship deadline, and asking for a gauge as to how long until helds hear back? Anyone have any recommendations on this?

They don't seem to be asking me for an additional essay or statement. Anyone have opinions on submitting one anyway?

I think it's a good idea. It can't hurt to show your sincere continued interest. As long as you keep it around 2 pages there really isn't a downside.

Sorry for being an ignoramus on this point, but is being on "reserve" or being "held" a fancy way of saying "wait list"?

Admitted via email just now (abroad).

176/3.54, 5 yr intl WE, good softs, good recs (including from current CLS prof). Complete in Oct, sent LOCI after big hold wave.

Doesn't mention $ in acceptance letter. Does that mean I won't see any merit $?

Thanks, wasn't expecting that at all.

And to strugglebus, yeah, I sent a short LOCI and reattached my Why Columbia? essay.

Could this be the week they tell us how much money they aren't going to give us? One can only hope.

Of the recent acceptances off the hold list, were any of you invited to interview?

Also just accepted, was in that big reserve group and submitted a LOCI. No interview

Just to clarify, you were in the "big reserve group" - so you were waitlisted, not held? They're different
