late check in....still nothing. URM with good softs and GPA> 75th, but lsat at a 163...
wrote both optional essays and tailored my personal statement somewhat...
only applied because of the fee waiver but this really has turned into my top choice, although it is a stretch with my numbers i'm keeping faith

What kind of URM? Shouldn't be a stretch at all actually.mydasmarie wrote:late check in....still nothing. URM with good softs and GPA> 75th, but lsat at a 163...

Re: Duke c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
This may sound like something you don't want to hear but I got a low score on my first LSAT and went through an entire cycle. Then I studied over the summer and throughout September, got a HUGE score improvement and had a chance to interview at Harvard. If I were you, I'd bite the bullet and apply next year with stronger numbers.mydasmarie wrote:late check in....still nothing. URM with good softs and GPA> 75th, but lsat at a 163...

You also have an excellent GPA. You could go anywhere if you just gave up two months of your life to LSAT improvement.

Is everybody PR, or is there also a WL? I know they keep mentioning they don't rank applicants, but I'm wondering if there's a "priority" pool, and then the rest.

I think there's also a WL because I think some people have mentioned being on it.Vexed wrote:Ditto.edwardt1988 wrote:Anyone else get the email about the PR interest from them?

Also, I'm pretty sure Duke has a WL, so PR is in fact different.

Out of curiosity, when did you apply (UR-1 / UR-2 etc.)?

Also curious about this. I went 12/19 -> 2/6. I'm hoping for news soon. They've gotta let the non-PT folk in sometime right?SplitMyPants wrote:UR1 12/19 -> UR2 02/12

Mine says the same thing. I think it's always been that way.Lightworks wrote:Changed from 1/13 to 2/12 last night.
The note up at the top has changed to:
"We appreciate your continued interest in Duke Law School. If you would like to submit additional/updated material, feel free to do so by email (admissions@law.duke.edu) or U.S. postal mail."
Sounds like I'm W/L, but I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone else have this notification? Or has it always been that way, and I'm just noticing it now?

lol, thanks. I just googled the message, and found a post from last year's topic where someone was wondering the same thing. Good to know, though.

Re: Duke c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
It definitely changed for me a few days ago, when my under review date updated from September to February. The old message at the top used to say something about how "...your application will go through multiple stages of review...feel free to send in additional materials, etc. etc." (or something like that), and now it's just that simple message about sending additional materials.kemosabe wrote:Mine says the same thing. Yeah, that does ring a bell now that you mention it. Mine might have changed as well. I've been UR2 for a week now and I haven't heard a peep one way or the other. Maybe it changes when you go from UR1 to UR2. I feel like Duke is overdue for a large wave of non-pt decisions. It might be easier to read tea leaves once we have more data.LEPWU wrote:It definitely changed for me a few days ago, when my under review date updated from September to February. Not so sure about that. NC got crushed by a huge snow and ice storm yesterday. They're probably still going to be shut down tomorrow.californiauser wrote:gotta be a huge wave coming by week's end
