But the status checker is updated at 6am eastern ever day, which is 5am central

Aaah I see. Sheepish now. I grew up in Michigan and am used to people thinking it is CST--I've learned a valuable lesson in reserving judgment today.

During your 1L year, there a few opportunities to get involved with various student organizations that do public interest work in the area. Your 2L and 3L years, you can work for one of the clinic here (the Michigan Innocence Clinic, for example) and get real-world experience, working with real clients, and even representing them in court. During the year, this can all be done for credit. During the summers, people frequently do public interest work in Detroit. The school also has a program called Student Funded Fellowships (SFF) where you can get money for taking an unpaid public interest summer internship position.

i submitted a little before and was complete on 1/09 and remain so
