I don't think this hurts them though; Spivey mentioned how Asians are still reported by schools as "minorities," and how this could possibly still be favorable for them. It probably doesn't have an effect either way.

Being female, although, is a bit of a boost :D
Asian-Americans receive a significant boost at Stanford vis-a-vis their white/Caucasian counterparts (one that is greater than at other schools) but less of a boost than do other URMs.
Totally false. Stanford has the lowest ratio of Asians to Whites among all top schools.

JS2 here (not from the wave that just came out). went complete @ S Oct/Nov/Dec.

losing hope fast
Someone a couple pages back said that she received an e-mail because her phone wasn't working. SLS admissions is faculty based, and accordingly quite unpredictable, even with respect to the timeline upon which they release decisions (much like Yale), so no reason to lose too much hope before you're actually rejected.
Do you have a source for the fact that SLS admissions is faculty based?

You may be right and I may be wrong but just because their ratio is lower doesn't mean there isn't a boost. It could be this low ratio that causes the boost.

I think Dean Deal mentions faculty reviews somewhere in that interview. I might update later if I can think of a better source.
"It's a long process here at SLS as well - multiple reviews, faculty reviews - so it does take time."

Also Asian Americans get absolutely zero boost. In fact, if it were just based on numbers, we'd be significantly more overrepresented at the top schools.

What does it mean if I applied the day that the app came out but I haven't heard anything (waitlist, rejection, nothin at all) since September? Also, should I be contacting them?
