The 2 JS1s at 3-4 pm yesterday have left me at a loss.
Once, I refreshed with a purpose. Now, I just refresh.

New poster. 173/4.0+, non-urm. App complete 11/26/12, email for JS1 recd 12/10/12. Just had interview with KB this afternoon, seemed to go ok. Did anyone else have a question about what they would do if they did not go to law school in the fall? Definitely made me nervous. Good luck to everyone waiting for JS1 or JS2!

Yeah I had this. I'm pretty young so I spazzed a little and thought she wanted me to take a year off or something. But it's probably nothing to be nervous aboutccook32691 wrote:New poster. 173/4.0+, non-urm. App complete 11/26/12, email for JS1 recd 12/10/12. So I hate to do this... but there is another HUGE drop in applicants (22% down from last year, which was itself a down year)...
Maybe a bit more splitter love from Harvard?
JS?
Call me, maybe?

You are proposing this as good thing, correct? Schools aren't likely to reduce class sizes and their yields will remain about the same. All of this meaning higher acceptance percentages to most schools.NoodleyOne wrote:http://www.lsac.org/lsacresources/data/ ... volume.asphelix23 wrote:source?NoodleyOne wrote:So I hate to do this... but there is another HUGE drop in applicants (22% down from last year, which was itself a down year)...

Edit: to clarify, I mean that there will be the same number of offers with less applicants. Lets just hope it means schools are more flexible with their numbers.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Not to be a buzzkill because I'm sure as hell hoping for this situation to benefit me too, but a drop in overall applicants doesn't correlate to a drop in HYS applicants. I hope the drop is across the board (and I seem to remember hearing that the biggest decline in apps is the 170+ bracket), but for all we know it's the other schools forced to lower their bar and not these guys. I think Rutgers was basically handing out admission to people who didn't even apply last year, so it's clearly effecting them harder than schools in the T14. Also, especially in the case of S and Y with lower class sizes, they already get way more overly qualified people than they have room for, so a 20% drop in apps won't make THAT much of a difference. At Harvard it's way more likely we'll see some love though, because of the class size, but so far there are a bunch of us that can't exactly say we're living proof of that. Still plenty of time though, and hopefully around the new year HLS will realize the decline is real and here to stay and give us all more love... I'm trying to keep my expectations down obviously, but that being said I sure hope you're right and this all pays offNoodleyOne wrote:http://www.lsac.org/lsacresources/data/ ... volume.asphelix23 wrote:source?NoodleyOne wrote:So I hate to do this... but there is another HUGE drop in applicants (22% down from last year, which was itself a down year)...

I have a funny feeling that this means that the waitlists might be the place for increased acceptances and lower standards rather than during the year. No reason, just a hunch.teiswei wrote:You are proposing this as good thing, correct? Schools aren't likely to reduce class sizes and their yields will remain about the same. Well it does seem that the largest decrease is in the 170+ bracket, so that's good for those going for H. Hey, it may not show the effect we're hoping, but since this is the only way I'm getting into H, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.trojandave wrote:Not to be a buzzkill because I'm sure as hell hoping for this situation to benefit me too, but a drop in overall applicants doesn't correlate to a drop in HYS applicants. Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Right there with you man, I'm in your boat for sure. But I think BroadStreet is right and we'll probably see the benefit in a few months off the waitlist. That'll give them time to realize this drop is serious after December score people start applying, and until then they'll likely hold out hope for a miraculous swoon of overly qualified apps. Meanwhile I hope the December results come back and only like 10 people took the test. Who wants to take a test in December anyway?NoodleyOne wrote: Well it does seem that the largest decrease is in the 170+ bracket, so that's good for those going for H. The 170+ ers that went complete in October and are JS0 (especially those that aren't splitters) imply that nothing posted here matters to Harvard.
