Wake is a very prestigious undergrad institution...much better than UNC in that respect.red_alertz wrote:equally good or equally bad? or being peer schools is an assumption of wake since UNC is higher ranked and UNC ppl may think differently?Stonewall wrote:peer schools.red_alertz wrote:i never learned much abt schools in north carolina, i know duke is so out of reach, but how does wake's reputation comparing to UNC? for law school especially?
As far as law school goes, Wake places a few more people into BigLaw jobs than UNC (15% v. 11%). In general, however, UNC and Wake are pretty equal when it comes to NC placement for law jobs.

I think Biglaw placement is even. Wake does have a higher percentage due to its smaller class size, but UNC actually had more first year associates.

Can anyone tell me the procedure to the seat deposit? Do I only need to pay the seat deposit, or do I need to write a letter of intent?

Just decided not to attend Wake. Hopefully that frees up a full tuition offer for someone else here.

Gosh, I guess the next big thing is really the Smith/Shaver scholly. Other than that, looks like there is going to be some good down time waiting to go to Wake. What to do?

I'm spending a month on the Appalachian Trail this summer to pass the time... and then a week in Vegas. And yes I'm aware those two things are nearly polar opposites lol.jdemmitt wrote:Gosh, I guess the next big thing is really the Smith/Shaver scholly. As a UNC undergrad I had to chime in here... Not sure how old the data is but this is what I found without searching too hard.NCtoDC wrote:Wake is a very prestigious undergrad institution...much better than UNC in that respect.red_alertz wrote:equally good or equally bad? or being peer schools is an assumption of wake since UNC is higher ranked and UNC ppl may think differently?Stonewall wrote:peer schools.red_alertz wrote:i never learned much abt schools in north carolina, i know duke is so out of reach, but how does wake's reputation comparing to UNC? for law school especially?

Wake is 5 spots ahead of UNC, and most years in the past they have been tied. Not to mention UNC is ~33k per year cheaper for those of us lucky enough to be from the great state of North Carolina and ~15k per year cheaper for out-of-staters. They are pretty much peer schools in every respect (minus the price tag).

*sniff* This is the hardest part... withdrawing today. Goodbye, thread-friends! I am very bummed that I will not be spending the next three years with you guys. Wake is a great school and I hope y'all enjoy it very much.
