Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
I sent a LOCI to Berkeley but I had a typo. (I wrote the word "of" where it didn't belong) Do you think I should resend it? Or just let it go... Maybe they won't notice? Anyone have any suggestions?

You can always send another one but I don't think it matters a whole lot.swimmergirl1303 wrote:I sent a LOCI to Berkeley but I had a typo. (I wrote the word "of" where it didn't belong) Do you think I should resend it? Or just let it go... Maybe they won't notice? Anyone have any suggestions?

+1. I don't see myself as an auto-reject, either, from a numerical standpoint.ThreeYears wrote:I don't think I am auto-reject, but maybe I am based on Berkeley standards.reversejinx wrote:Judging by LSN data, they're sending out auto-rejects today: http://berkeley.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... order=desc

Edit: Nope, not updated for the Berkeley ding. I kept getting the sessions problem error. I've been pretty great at keeping updated so far.reversejinx wrote:jman77 wrote:+1. Well shit, update your LSN, and maybe some of us won't jump to premature conclusions.

false?reversejinx wrote:Yea, try switching browsers. I'm sure there are a bunch of people like you who just haven't updated yet. But going off of the current LSN data, over the course of the last 24 hours, there have been 20+ rejections and 1 acceptance. All of the rejections have been for those with sub-170 and/or sub-3.6 numbers. Seems like auto-rejects to me.jman77 wrote:

reversejinx is generally correct on the lsn data, when i checked last night there was a 171 and a 179 rejected who both applied in november (and both had foreign gpas?), while the remainder of the ~20 rejections were what i consider to be berkeley 'auto-rejects'logistikon wrote:false?reversejinx wrote:Yea, try switching browsers. edit: i see your point logistkon, i don't mean that 169/3.59 is an auto-ding at berk, just that most of the rejected lsn profiles seem to be

Ah, you were pretty forceful about a particular field then? I was a bit concerned lol, there are certain commonalities between our profiles. I'm took a rather rough swipe with, "I have lots of finance and accounting experience and find corporate politics amusing and vaguely enjoyable." It's pretty complementary to any sort of corporate transactional or litigatory practice area, and I generally haven't expressed to specific an interest in a particular area, although I have some ideas.r6_philly wrote:I feel that other schools have deemed my career focus not a great fit for the school because they don't really offer what I am looking for. +1, especially since my bf was dinged with the same LSAT score and is a URM with a decent GPA. AND he submitted after me. He suggested that there was a GPA floor for yesterday's batch of decisions [and by that I mean rejections]....sounds pretty believable?

It is very fast. I am on the east coast. This probably has to do with your ISP and the routing to their server. From here the site is about as fast as yahoo.com, just pinged it.artichoke wrote:Why is the Berkeley law website like the slowest thing in the world?

the old wisdom says they like high GPA, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a hard floor.Gotti wrote:queenlizzie13 wrote:Same... I am very surprised I have not been dinged yet.

From TLS interview with Dean Tom:
Proposition 209: Cannot Consider Ethnicity or Gender
TLS: I know that with Proposition 209, Boalt is precluded from implementing affirmative action, but does ethnic background still play any role in admissions?
Dean Tom: “No. As a result of 209, we did modify our review process to be much more holistic, rather than numbers centered, which I liked. I think it results in an entering class every year that is diverse across the board. We still have strong ethnic representation in the class, almost where it was before 209. And it is more challenging for an admissions office to accomplish that now because the minority students who are admitted here without affirmative action are among the top minority students throughout the country. They are being courted by all the great schools and so it is particularly satisfying when they choose us.”

Oh yeah I know it's illegal. Just commenting on the apparent strangeness of the fact that my bf got dinged and I didn't
