Re: Vanderbilt 2013
IS anyone here trying to make the Vandy vs. TX choice and got a scholly from Vandy that doesn't come close to their TX scholly?

is there a specific person who should be contacted re negotiating scholarships? Wouldn't want to send a letter into a vacuum.

This is correct. The deadline to commit to Vanderbilt for the Law Scholars moves up to April 1, from a regular commitment date of May 1, if I'm not mistaken.TheBigMediocre wrote:I'm fairly certain they have one every year. A guy from my UG is at Vandy now with the full-ride + stipend (Wade Scholarship) and he had a certain earlier date to accept it by because they wanted to look elsewhere otherwise.somewhatwayward wrote:does anyone know if vandy will offer full tuition scholarships to other people if the people they originally offer them to turn them down?....in the case of the named scholarships listed on the top of the law merit scholars app, do they have a person who gets it every year? or do they only offer it to one person and if that person turns it down, they just don't have one in that class?
And this is from the "promise to attend" form:
"I understand that this award is not transferrable; should I withdraw from the class at any time or fail, for any reason, to enroll at Vanderbilt Law School in the fall 2010 semester as I have promised, no student in the entering class will have the benefit of this award."
I take this bit to mean that if you don't submit the commitment form by April 1, they will fish around for other Law Scholars. If you do, however, and then fail to attend the school, then the $150,000 doesn't go to anybody.

interesting. i guess if someone commits to it and then decides not to attend sometime in the summer, then the school doesn't have much incentive to give out full rides anymore. i got a chancellor's scholarship (81k), which is great, but i think it'd take more than that to sway me from my other choices (on another note, for some reason a dean's scholarship sounds like it should be more than a chancellor's scholarship to me). i'll have to think it over.

The head of the Vanderbilt U system is the Chancellor (not a president, like most other schools) so the Chancellor scholarship certainly carries more weight than a Dean scholarship.somewhatwayward wrote:^
