They don't seem to be securing URMs. They deferred a black male URM with a 160/3.5GPA, even though they've taken black male URMs in the past with 150+. I'm a black male URM so we'll see what happens when I receive my decision.

yeah i was very surprised by that. i was thinking that maybe it's become much more competitive with there being a 16% rise in apps from last year, but then again there's another URM with a 3.4, 158 who was granted an interview.

Whichever way you look at it, not accepting a significant number people with stats well above medians = YP.

You're right, but honestly deferred with a 171 and 3.8?? Unless cornell is getting ridiculous amounts of allstar applicants idk what else it is.

It changed to "Decision 11/24," I called the admissions office, they told me it was a deferral, and I got my letter in the mail yesterday.

I was told theyre not even through with EA applicants yet and that they plan on being done with them by the end of this month (before leaving on break) and that the first day back from break is when they will start looking at RD apps. I was told that there arent many complete apps and that mine will prob be in the handful of apps that get decisions on that first day back--I missed the EA deadline by a few days.

171 (retake) 3.75, re-applicant. Applied with a significantly worse LSAT last year. I really, really like Cornell.

if the status changed, and you don't get a call, can you expect either a rejection or deferral?

They don't call you. Helm called the office to find out his decision, which they gave to him over the phone. If you're at Decision 11/20 or 11/24, though, you've been deferred. If not, if/when you do change to Decision, you can call the office to find out what that decision actually is.

So I guess that means we will have decisions on all EA applications by Friday, December 18th, according to the calendar below. Unless the law school is open Monday the 21st to Wednesday the 23rd.
