Just got an email for need based grant...anyone else?

How much have those who received need-based grant awards receive? Ballpark range.

I got the e-mail on friday, that I was waitlisted. I am just going to withdrawl since Berkeley was my first choice anyway. I was just hoping to get a scholarship offer.

ucla or upenn?!?! i cant decide!! my family lives in LA, so i'd be close ot them plus save on housing costs, but upenn is ivy league!!! someone help

I admit, getting over the fact that I'd have to turn down an Ivy to attend would be difficult, but I'd be in pretty good company. [For what it's worth, my dad, my cousins, and a handful of people I know belong to the "In at Harvard, MIT, Princeton with scholarships, but got bigger scholarships elsewhere and attended the big state school to stay near family club... whew!" From what this has taught me in life, it isn't so much where you went as how you did, how you interview, and what the market is like while you're attending and once you leave. My dad just sold his small start up venture last week by the way for $100 million - non-Harvard degree and all! Imagine that.

In that case, I guess you won't be getting financial aid.

What is the seat deposit deadline for UCLA? I haven't heard anything from them, and being that I applied late in the cycle, I am worried that it may be a while longer. This is a reach school for me, but I would like to have a decision before I send a seat deposit to another school. Also, Is it smart to send deposits to more than one school?

boo. I just submitted my needaccess form, but from what I've been hearing grants thus far have been between $1K - $10K thus far. On UCLA's website, the say "Under this program, recipients were awarded amounts ranging from $1,000 to $16,500 [ +/- half tuition] -- protecting students with the greatest need from having to assume still larger burdens." I sincerely hope my grant aid, if any, is on the higher end.

The first seat deposit is due May 1st, along with an "intent to register" (does anyone know what that means?). The second seat deposit is due June 15th.

Both deposits are $500.

In with $60,000 scholarship! So awesome!

What's funny is that I took the Feb LSAT, and UCLA was the one school that said they would hold off on reviewing my app until the score was released, even if I didn't want them to. Guess that didn't happen!

Damn, would think you'd be auto-admit with big scholly money. Both of your numbers are better than mine. Must be YP, though you'd think they'd admit candidates like this in the hopes that they attend.

Not quite. You get the log-in information in an email. I received that about four or so business days after getting the call, and about a day after receiving the letter.

An intent to register is an electronic signature of sorts - I sent in my first deposit and signed my intent to register for classes January. I'm not sure when I should sign up for housing - I feel like if I wait until ASD, it'll be too late to secure a spot at Weyburn.

I emailed them today to see if I could get an update on my status. Applied 10/27, complete 11/3. They told me I would hear back by the end of April at the latest. Nice.
