Wait, what? If you're on reserve, then that's your decision. I don't think they also send those via snail mail.girlgoestolawschool wrote:I live in an apartment complex and my mailbox broke about two weeks ago, completely unbeknownst to me. My roommate just informed me that we have not been receiving mail for the last two weeks. I was part of the recent wave of reserve list applicants and am worried that my denial is lost somewhere in the U.S. postal service. Should I call Columbia and ask them if my decision has been sent out???

I thought I read previously that individuals who were initially put on the reserve list recently received rejections in the mail? I could be wrong.Applesauce11 wrote:Wait, what? Reserve means wait list. I don't think you'll get a final decision till at least May.

Reserve list email today. I'm actually pleasantly surprised, I was definitely expecting a rejection.

So my newest theory is that I accidentally submitted my Columbia app in a foreign language and it's just taking them a really long time to translate it back to English

My theory is that I just forgot to submit my application, and I've been waiting for something that will never come.theconsigliere wrote:So my newest theory is that I accidentally submitted my Columbia app in a foreign language and it's just taking them a really long time to translate it back to English

I like the foreign language idea. Personally, I'm of the opinion that in keeping with their focus on snail mail, all applications are printed out once, and then forever deleted from their servers. I expect a professor has taken ours home, and they are now buried in a stack of unrelated papers. I would like to make sure that any adcoms members monitoring this thread are aware, however, that I am happy to print my application out and send them dozens of more copies if this will help the process. An interesting though but their "status checker" says I did in fact apply. My final idea is that they literally stole $85 from us and we're not getting a decision. If we try call them out about it they respond "we'll see you in court."JusPassItToWill wrote:My theory is that I just forgot to submit my application, and I've been waiting for something that will never come.theconsigliere wrote:So my newest theory is that I accidentally submitted my Columbia app in a foreign language and it's just taking them a really long time to translate it back to English

Now I just imagine there's that one professor at Columbia who each year takes home a stack of applications that are never seen again. "God damnit Jim that's the 4th year in a row."dreams2020 wrote:I like the foreign language idea. Not to hijack this, but could someone post this to the whole thread? I feel like this would be pretty beneficial to the thread as i'm sure a lot of applicants are choosing between two or all three of these schools. Gracias.ftge232 wrote:Not gonna be able to make ASW

What do you guys want to know? I can probably shed some light on the CLS/NYU thing, but Chicago is pretty different altogether.Budfox55 wrote:Not to hijack this, but could someone post this to the whole thread? Haha, I'm actually interested in Columbia vs Chicago. Specifically Columbia advantages over Chicago other than being in NY.

Interview was super fun and relaxed - we started by talking about my personal statement, senior thesis, and intellectual interests, and then went into why Columbia, my career aspirations, etc. If you have ties to any other Ivies or top law schools, he/she may ask more specifically about why you prefer CLS. And be sure to have several questions about CLS prepared to ask at the end!Interficio wrote:Have my interview soon... any tips?

I think that's something that you have to decide what you're interested in and then see what CLS/Chi each offer in that area. I think the NYC thing is huge, but the extent that matters also depends on what you want to do.Budfox55 wrote:DCfilterDC wrote:What do you guys want to know? Just got held, so another wave today maybe. Already in at NYU and UChi (with $$ at Chi), kind of disappointing.
