For those invited to do a James WIlson essay: how long were your submissions? a "brief essay" seems awfully open-ended...

Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Anybody have success getting $$ after being designated a Wilson alternate?
If so, did you send your reply to scholarships@law.upenn.edu or henry2@law.upenn.edu? (The email mentions both...)
Also, their email says to submit "official award letters from other schools"... my best offer at this point is from Cornell, who sent the offer in the body of an email! Should I cut/paste? Forward their email? Has anybody had a similar issue?
Thanks

Does anyone know what the toll scholarship interview process is like for finalists? Like what kind of questions they will ask?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone know what the prospect of getting a job in the southern legal market with a Penn degree is? Or is it relatively impossible to get a job in Atlanta/DC with a Penn degree?

went UR2 yeserday. should I expect a decision Friday? it seems like they have a quick turnaround after going UR2 and they only release decisions on Friday (I think).

They have released other days, according to their Twitter, but Friday seems most common. I'm hoping for a wave Friday this week too! I went UR2 last Tuesday and had also noticed the quick turnaround.proteinshake wrote:went UR2 yeserday. should I expect a decision Friday? it seems like they have a quick turnaround after going UR2 and they only release decisions on Friday (I think).

Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I don't think this opinion is very well informed. DC is a tough market to crack but coming from Penn you should have a good shot. If you're interested in working in a firm, going to the hill beforehand is not going to be helpful. Plenty of DC employers will be at the on campus interviews prior to 2L year and you can mass mail the rest of the DC firms you're interested in. That being said, from all of the reading I've done and schools and employers I've spoken with, DC is doable but difficult.manuelsig wrote:DC is basically a revolving door, so coming from a T14 you probably won't have too many problems - you might need to spend some time on the Hill to get a foot in the door. Atlanta will be more difficult, given it's fed by Emory and UGA. Regardless, I assume that any firm would look twice at an applicant from an Ivy. Whatever you do, lean heavy on the local alumni network.egp005 wrote:Anyone know what the prospect of getting a job in the southern legal market with a Penn degree is? As far as Atlanta, UGA and Emory are not going to be major competition for someone coming from Penn, with the caveat that you have some compelling ties or reason to want to work in Atlanta. You'll need to convince firms that you're actually interested in working and staying in ATL long term.
disclaimer: I'm a 0L but really interested in southern markets and DC

Not necessarily, just going off of what seems to be a pattern of sending out a wave of decisions on Fridays. Just managing my own expectations!

There's a new tweet on @PennLawAdmiss this morning, but not (yet) a #DecisionFriday tweet. But at least the office is open and tweeting...

People have reported acceptances without that tweet over the last several weeks. Seems like they're trickling out instead of coming in waves. Hopefully today is a wave thoughberek wrote:There's a new tweet on @PennLawAdmiss this morning, but not (yet) a #DecisionFriday tweet. But at least the office is open and tweeting...
