so if I already uploaded my LOCI through their website, do I have to email them one as well?

I called the office and asked them more or less this same question yesterday. They said that email was just one of the ways to get it to them, and that uploading your LOCI through "My Columbia Law" should be fine. It'll still get added to your file.

I think it's ridiculous that they don't confirm receipt of all LOCIs - this is too big of a deal to just hope that they receive it. Systems like this fail all the time.

Agreed. I uploaded mine through the online portal but since I didn't receive confirmation I also emailed it (and then received confirmation). I'm kind of obsessive about these things since my school messed up sending my transcript to LSAC (note: Newton, PA does not exist).

IIRC from last year's thread, most people didn't hear until very close to the April 24 deadline.

Plus they're still accepting LOCIs for held apps until tomorrow, so it'll probably be a while.

For those who have been held (and gotten an actual notification, not just left in radio silence), it's theoretically optional but they're basically asking for one, so I can't imagine not doing one is a good idea if you care about getting in.

Reserve and held are different things, though. Held isn't a decision; reserve = WL.

Welp, U.S. and Iran just agree to preliminary framework for a nuclear deal....theres two ways to look at this:

1. All the waiting, deadline extending, and luck in the world has now been used up and I should officially cease hoping to be admitted to this dream school

2. If a nuclear deal is possible even though deadline after deadline was missed and the prospect of a deal with Iran was considered DOA, perhaps there is still a chance for this median level applicant to hear good news from Columbia even after hearing not a thing since going complete 2/19...

Probably 2, since 2/19 is a relatively recent complete date compared to most of the people in this thread.

I would also posit a third option, which is that our chances of being engulfed in a nuclear firebomb while in law school just went down significantly, no matter where.

DON'T DO THAT TO YOURSELF, IT'S A TRAP!! Lol, seriously though, I went to St. John's for undergrad, and I guarantee it is not the school you want to go to. I hate the idea of working like a slave after graduation to pay off debt; I hate it with every ounce of my being. I'm not exaggerating. But I prefer that over St. John's again. Definitely not worth it when you've been admitted to Columbia.
