My boss who wrote me an LOR got one of these, and I was accepted. I don't know if they send them to all recommenders or not, though.

Could you please speak on the process of the interview more? Are you given a rubric of some sort? Grading scale? Designated questions from GULC?

And possibly what makes a candidate stand out?
I'm asked to get your resume and then generally just get to you know you and speak with you. Each interviewer, obviously, is different. In the ones I've done, I've focused less on the person's resume and what they've done. Instead, I've tried to get a sense of why the person is interested in GULC, what opportunities they are looking for, what the interest is in DC, what their general career interests may be (and I fully appreciate that these can change), and also whether or not it's demonstrable that you've done your research about the school and have a sense of what programs and other activities are offered. So, I wouldn't recommend telling me extensively about your interest in entertainment law, because we don't really have a "focus" in that (although there certainly are applicable courses). But it's just not the market for that. Comparatively, if you're interested in human rights, I figure you'd know about our organizations and courses, or at least have an idea about them. Basically, I want to see that GULC isn't just a check mark on your application list. I'd also like to see that you've thought about what law school is and can recognize that it's not a one-way ticket to a great paycheck and that shit happens and things may not work out. Just be an articulate, interesting person.

As for the evaluation, it's a simple form that asks for any comments and recommendation (whether positive or not). That's it.
thanks, do you know anything about the decision making process regarding who gets in without a interview vs. who gets a group int vs alum int?
No, nothing in particular. Pretty much, if you're offered some interview, you're probably someone who is a borderline candidate; the grades are probably right around the target, but maybe your personal statement or resume didn't stand out as much as you'd hoped and they wanted to give you another opportunity to present yourself to Admissions. I have no idea what the decision is between group or not (it may be whether or not you are in a location where the admissions committee can get you together with more than one person, but I don't know). I'll just put it this way -- if you're offered an interview, I advise you to do it if you're interested in GULC. There's more of a likelihood that you'll be waitlisted if you decline.

I figured I might as well join in the public panic rather than lurk all day.

I submitted 12/29, went complete 1/2, was invited to an alumni interview on 1/15, and completed the interview 1/21. Most recent status update is 1/22.

My interview was a great experience, my interviewer asked that I send my resume and one of the essay's I had submitted to GULC. I used my PS. We spoke for about 55 minutes total, and I was asked about college and what challenges I faced, what drives me, why GULC, and several other standards. Other than that we talked about all kinds of things such as my interviewers experiences in DC and with their professional story. It was really just a conversation with random interview questions stuck in.

I came out of the interview really confident and overall I still remain confident with only the occasional freakout about minor things that I analyze in hindsight.

That's good to hear. I was invited on 1/15 and still haven't been contacted by my interviewer. Contemplating whether or not I should call GULC about this --- their FAQs state that the process should take a few weeks, but I'm not sure if they are referring to being initially contacted, or the whole interview process in total.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Will call tomorrow

I'm sure it won't hurt to call them but I wouldn't be surprised that it is taking some people longer to schedule interviews than others. Reading through the thread others have mentioned it taking a couple weeks before their interviewer contacts them.

I'm at GULC for the first admits' open house right now. Sat in on a class this morning (one on a small list provided by admissions) and the professor's friend was in town so she did a guest lecture. She was a professor from Northwestern. Poor planning, Georgetown! Also, it's effing cold here.

Sorry, I asked this on the last page and never got an answer. For those admitted after an alumni interview, is there a pattern to when you get news? How many updates, etc?

Waitlisted yesterday. But I thought I would get rejected so I was actually somewhat surprised.

Does anybody know anything about how the waitlist usually works/how many people they take off it?

I got 3 updates. Had my interview on a Friday, update Monday, Tuesday, (Thanksgiving week), another update the following Monday and received my mail by Friday.

Also 3 post-interview updates, though not quite that fast. Three seems to be the norm, although I believe that there have been a few exceptions.
